Central align it, and add in something in the background, even if just some colour tone.

Everything is aligned to center except Work, which won't be there for long anyway.
I'm having some troubles getting the background to work.

Omg, I thought so, but I just finished my first year of latin yesterday as a freshman, and wasn't sure if it really was.

Yeah... i'm in england... the most complex language we study is German... and thats out of random selection... Pre-GCSE (age 11ish?) You get randomly assigned French, Spanish or German. And if you do really well you get to pick a second one 8-).
Needless to say I got a D for French

as others have posted, some sort of background would be good.

Hmm.. depends on the background... I think too many sites over emphasise their backgrounds which is what puts users off using them frequently. If you look most of the more regularly used sites have neutral backgrounds or even just a solid colour.

I Kinda like it how it is. I think it works just fine like that.
You can also run into problems with pictures not showing up very well with a vivid backgrounds, or strong colours.

I hate to derail the read, but I have to ask. You don't get to pick? That really sucks. Through elementary (age 6-12) we got spanish, and then starting with middle school 12-14/15 we picked between french, spanish, or italian, and then in high school 14/15-18 in my school we got to pick from Chinese, Latin, Italian, Spanish, or French. I've heard of some schools offering stuff like Arab, German, Korean, Japeneese etc

If you look at the banner, originally that was supposed to be the background "texture", but it's caused nothing but problems. I don't really know all that much about HTML, so this is just me piecing together what I can. I understand most of it though, so.

I'd figure you'd have an easier time understanding German than French, seeing as both English and German are Germanic languages (just like Swedish and other northern languages, albeit in yet another direction), wheras French along with Portuguese, Spanish, Italian and Romanian (am I forgetting something?) are Roman languages (ie, evolved from Latin).
