    Highest reasonable FPS during WoW

A quick search to answer this on these forums returned nothing so I bring the question up (probably for the nth time) about the highest FPS you can expect from a custom built gaming PC on a budget of about 1000 USD, not including things like monitor etc etc..

Also a few things relevant to this would be I'll have an i7-2600k core and 8gb RAM, and a PSU and Motherboard to support each to their fullest potential.
I've heard 115 fps on ultra settings but I've never come close to that on my older computer i'm using now.
    Thanks!

EDIT: by "not including monitor" I meant my budget doesn't include a monitor, mouse, keyboard etc which seems cheap but ofc adds up fast (especially the monitor part)

If you want to come close to this 115 FPS, you'll need to change to an i5 2500K. No performance difference in WoW, but you'll be able to spend the extra $100 on a better GPU (which you also need for high FPS).
Also, was this 115 FPS during 25m raids or just standing in silithus?

Only reason 115 fps would even be shown on a monitor is with a 120hz monitor. So I'm not sure how this is "reasonable" lol

You will see ~40-50 in 25m raids with ultra settings and shadows on medium on a $1k machine.

You really won't see a ton more than that in raid settings unless you have some obscenely overclocked processor

Maybe he should've worded it different.

You don't really need a good GPU at all to get 115+fps in Silithus. I was in Silithus just when I got my comp, and I had a steady 140-150FPS. I was obviously alone with no other models, but still.

But pushing an i7-2600K or an i7-990x past its safelimits (5.2GHz), you can reliably get 90+FPS in most situations. The game is horribly optimised and there are still no guarantees, though.

But I do hope you have a 120Hz monitro by thatr point.

Not sure, but even if at rest my current computer (stock iMAC) does 30 FPS at rest so presumably lower in raids, and i'm always on lowest settings.
Also, my graphics card is equally powerful, not sure of the exact specs atm as its not here yet, but i believe it was an XFX Radeon 6750 (?).

I see ur set-up in your sig.. what kind of FPS do you get, standing still and while in raids? I don't really care to reach some magic number, just better than 30 (and much less when doing anything like raids)

Yes :P It goes along with the top picture. Apparently Windows 7 thinks a 5GHz Quad Core and a 6970 Lightning is slow :P

Looking up at the sky in Durotar with a i5 750 and a 5770 on ultra without shadows gives me 450fps

I don't play WoW, so I really have no clue..
Maybe one of the WoW-players here can answer this question for me

Also, according to Fraps I get 5k+ FPS in Crysis 2. This is at the start of the game where you see all the brandnames

Anything above 60 is just a performance waste.

Edit: Then again I'm a PvPer and for me that equals performance > looks.

Unless you have a 120Hz monitor, but I get your point.

Well, in raids (10M right now) I usually have around 90 fps in firelands, everything ultra with 16x AA. SW I have around 98 and random zones I have around 160-200. It makes no difference since you notice nothing beyond 60 and barely notice past 30. I have an i7 930 and HD 6970 if that helps. Don't worry about hitting above 100 or 115, doesn't make any difference. And, of course, looking straight up gets into the multi-hundreds but that's to be expected since you arent loading anything. Also, budget for my computer was around $1500 when I got it, no SSD at all just 7200RPM so upper echelon machines will be much better.

just want to mention that the human eye cant see more than 60 frames per second. so i capped all my games to 60, since its a complete waste to have more than 60 frames. what the hell do you want with 1000000 fps if you cant even see them.

    just ridiculous stupid.

Oh, the monitor runs at 60Hz, that's why you don't notice

There is no limit on the eye since it doesn't see in frames.

it just makes absolutly no differnece if you have 300000 fps or 60 fps. sure the eye can catch more than this, but you dont realise it. its the same: so why should i need 4 graphic cards and 20gb ram, when i can play all games on ultra settings with only 1 200 euro graphic card and 4gb ram? its just plain stupid.....

i bet that if i show you a movie or a game, one time with 60 fps and one time with 200, you dont see any difference.
