Does anyone know how much the 580 cost at release?
Im planing to get my hands on a 680

AMDs Southern Island chips should be ready about the same time.
With both GPUs being manufactured in 28nm (down from 40nm) I think we can look forward to another epic AMD vs. Nvidia duel in Q4 2012.
Found some very recent release
4th july

With nvidias engineering record I highly doubt they well roll out product this year. Late q1 at the earliest. also I would not consider taping out to be ready for production.
True that, hopefully nobody is holding their breath for Q4 6xx. It's very VERY highly unlikely.
can't wait I'm definitely getting a gtx 680 or whatever they plan to call it
About damn time!

The 6 series might be great but I say wait for the 7 series, that's when you will really start to see what the chip is capable of.
That, and I already have a 5 series card, so i'm set for a few more years.
I'll pass on the 680, my rule is to always skip atleast 1 generation unless something mind-blowing has been improved to the point where you're seeing 70-100% performance gains. Also, even the single 580 was not cheap (for me anyway) and I want my dollars to last a while
I'll most probably buy a 780 (or HD8000 series if AMD starts leading the GPU industry), because by that time a 580 will fall under low/mid-range.

AMD will, again, beat NVidia to the punch: http://news.softpedia.com/news/AMD-S...d-206363.shtml and http://www.fudzilla.com/graphics/ite...enames-show-up

28nm and TSMC without any problems ? I doubt it.
