My iPod touch 1g is obviously horribly outdated at this point. The latest iOS update it can handle even makes it run slow. Using jailbreakme.com to jailbreak the iPod makes it run even slower than the iOS. I read something about an OS for legacy iOS devices, redsn0w? Problem is, I cant find a download, or a how to guide. Any tips? A link maybe? Any help is appreciated

At least in the US it is. They added it as an exception to the DMCA within the last year or so. And of course didn't do the same with things like the PS3 and such.
