    External monitor issue

    Hey there, I would just like to know if anyone's had this same problem.

    I play on a MacBook Pro with an external 22'' screen. When I play with my 22'' screen I have to lower my resolution radically to achieve a steady 30 FPS. Everything basically looks like shit but I get decent FPS. However, while playing on the laptop's own 13'' screen I easily hit 60 FPS with the highest resolution possible and higher settings.

    If anyone has experience with this and perhaps know of a way to fix it I'd be very grateful. If you could hold off any insults about me using a mac I'd also be very grateful.

    nothing you can fix. the 22" is likely 1920x1080 or 1620x1050, both of which are considerably larger than 1280x800 (likely your mac's resolution).

    1920x1080 = 2073600
    1620x1050 = 1701000
    1280x800 = 1024000

    if it's 1920x1080, your computer has to render twice as many pixels, theoretically giving you about half the FPS. if it's 1620x1050 it has to render about 2/3 more pixels, theoretically giving about 2/3 the FPS

    there is no way to fix this aside from lowering the graphics settings
