Heat Issues (Looking for tips on next build)

In my current build (babbys first build) I learned a lot but there definitely some mistakes made. The biggest of which is the heat my rig gives off is nuts, and my case is a mid tower POS with tiny fans that keep nothing cool so I have two fans I had in my room aimed at the sucker to keep it cool (With side panel off).

CPU is at about 133 F and the GPU is at 153 F HDD is at 99 F.

If I put the side panel back on and ramp the fans up as much as possible the heat skyrockets.

What I'm looking for the most I guess what case (for airflow, won't be using water cooling) would help the most in keeping my hardware cooler. I'm aware things can run pretty hot these days but this feels like overkill.

For people who prefer Celsius, that's 56, 67 and 37 respectively.

It'd be nice to say what case you have, what fans you have (any additional ones on the case, not the ones pointed at your computer) and what your hardware actually is. We may be able to recommend something based off this, such as a proper CPU cooler, rather than the default that comes with your CPU.

Again, I'm aware of some of the mistakes I made already but I guess I'm sort of looking for a place to start? I won't be using any of the previous hardware in my new build.

Ideally what you want is several intake fans and several output fans. Note that you want them to be good quality fans, not ones for $2-5, as they probably won't deliver the performance that you'd like.

Many people seem to be recommending the Antec 900. As you can see, it has 2 front intake fans, 1 plain output at the back, and one huge fan on top. There's also the additional side-panel fan if you choose to add another. If you're wondering about GPU size, it can host an 11" but it's a bit of a squeeze if you don't do a good job with your cable management. (I have v1 so it's from experience).

I believe scythe and zigmatek fans are generally pretty good for case fans. I'm not a cooling or fan expert though myself

For a CPU cooler, Noctua NH-D14 seems to be recommended a lot here (a long with a few others, but their names escape me atm).

Also, that CPU is suprisingly hot for an AMD!

Since your CPU is an AMD, it's waaay too hot. I hope it's under full load. You need a new heatsink, fast. :P What's your ambient temp?

I have the Noctua. It's damn impressive, tbh. But, it's too large and too pricey for some. Did you have stock-fan @OP?

Yes, it's dangerously hot. 62°C rather, but you don't want to be that close.

I guess it depends on what you're doing (any OC or full load operations), and what you're comfortable with. I've got an NH u12, and under full load (with SETI and the like) my i7 gets up to 71c, but my MB doesn't go above 45. That's well within tolerances for something I'll likely replace in another 2 years (giving it about a 5 year lifespan).

That's not to say I let it run full bore all the time, mostly because the room itself gets damn hot from the cpu and gpus.

    It's all a money question.

1st rule of pc-cases: you want room. A fat broad bigtower is great it you have the room for it. (moneywise there is very little difference between midi and big)

Cheap but good ATX-Midi: Xigmatech Asgard II http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-004-_-Product It's fat and that is good. 18.5cm is enough room for a good heatsink.

For a little more of your money a BTX-Midi from Enermax like Enermax Clipeus. (BTX puts the PSU on the bottom, where it should belong and seperates airflow for the PSU and CPU)

If money is no consideration go for Lian-Li.

As for CPU heatsink, Scythe Mugen 2 or 3 whatever you like better. They are cheap and very good but HUGE, only a problem if you move around all the time for LAN. (about 40 bucks for one, btw I like the old Mugen 2 more)

Case fans: Papst or Noctua if you want silent but good (both not cheap)
Or go with slow Scythe or Xigmatek. Always 120mm+ there is no way to silently cool anything with 80mm.

2nd rule of PC-cases: BIND YOUR CABELS! Use cable binders or even better heat shrink tubing. Get those things out of the way or at least make them as little obscuring as you can.
