SSD and Sata

I just watched a movie on youtube named: SSD vs Sata loading times games, they used WoW & SC2. I was blown away with the speed & timedifference.

As i am planning anyway to buy a new pc i'm going to put an SSD in for sure, combined with a Sata. My only concern is that the SSD is only 120gb...wich fills up pretty fast! What do you suggest? Put my SSD as 2nd drive and install my games on that, or SSD as Main with Win7 on it and a couple of games while i install the rest on my Sata, just as my other software?

Sata is the interface for connecting the device with your PC. I guess you watched a HDD vs SSD video. Both of these work with SATA.
The general idea is that you install Windows on the SSD drive with the most important software, and everything else on the HDD.

Ye, when i was rereading my post i slapped my head but you beat me to it to correct myself.

IMO put your windows 7 and wow on your SSD and try and put everything else on the HDD. If you plan on using fraps this will help a lot in not decreasing your fps.

120GB SSD can fit already 3-4 games easily along with windows, web browsers, office suite and all kinds of other junk. What you dont' want to use SSD for is the download directory of any program, or the storage of your mp3/porn collection.

My porn collection already filled up my 1TB disk so i'm not even starting on that but i see some benefits in quicker loading of.....movies.

Not really worth it, difference between 1 sec and 5 sec from doubleclick to seeing some action when you're watching... movies.

Where SSD shines is basically all programs installed. Web browser starts in a second instead of 5-10, word starts in 2-3 seconds not 20, WoW (along with 50+ addons) starts in 15 seconds not minute and a half and so on... It basically removes almost every single delay you've ever had with computer between clicking a program open and something happening on screen, and you never again will be tempted to run to bathroom or kitchen while in loading screen.

If you can only afford 1 SSD, and have a 2 drive requirement then yes - OS disk on SSD is the better option. Just be aware transfer times to the slower disk will only be as quick as the speed of the slower disk.

That said, I have run wow (heavy add on user) on SSD and on standard HDD and the difference isn't noticeable. I know on brand new clean builds with super pimp out performance and proper benchmarking it is noticed, but who lives in that world?

If your browser is taking 5-10 seconds and word 20 seconds and wow 1.5 minutes then it's not your disk......

5-10 sec is normal for Firefox with +20 add-ons.

If your browser is taking 5-10 seconds and word 20 seconds and wow 1.5 minutes then it's not your disk......

+ i know it's not bs cause at my work 2 guys playing on a SSD and they confirm the speed.

I can't help but notice those are two different characters, with 2 different sets of add-ons loading... at different times...... with different viewing angles... of course one is going to take longer than the other even if they were both running on the same media....

it's a good comparison otherwise lol (That is to say... its about as accurate as most of the stuff on Tomshardware....)
I do like the way the screen is split and the timer to show you the difference.... though so its not a total waste.

(And I can't say that it's EVER taken me 59 seconds to log into game. And I haven't ever played WoW on an SSD, my last drive being a WD Caviar Black 1TB)

You clearly haven't played on a laptop with a 5400RPM drive, a T5800-CPU and with a GS9600M using Win-Vista 32bit.

I've played on a laptop almost near that...Asus G50VT...9800GTM...definitely not a bad laptop...miss it a tad...
