Did the same thing 2 years ago, although I wasn't really obese, but I would probably not be far away from it if I didn't do anything about it right there and then. Took walks, ate less+more healthy, stopped with sugar altogether and lost about 20kilos in three months!

No. You'd have to gain a helluva lot of muscle to be considered obese. Like huge body building muscles on top of a large frame. For 99% of the population, the ranges are perfectly valid.those standards are so false. If you build muscle you look obese
That's exactly what I'm doing. I only changed my diet a little bit. I still usually still go out for lunch (usually just subway, but if my friends suggest something else like Wendy's I won't put up much of a fight). I try to go for an hour walk at least once a day, and cutting back on the coke!

BMI is a misrepresented "stat." There are people who are very muscular that are considered "obese" by using BMI. But, congratulations on losing weight! Keep it up.

I myself am about to enter a diet (next week, this week is the county fair >.>). Gonna go buy a bike and ride it on non-raid nights, eat healthier (no more McDonald's for lunch) and stick to water/juice. My goal isn't astronimical, I'm at 240lb right now, I'd like to be around 200lb (I'm 5'10").

It's worth noting that, as others have alluded, the BMI is useless for determining obesity. Its inventor made that explicitly clear.

It's honestly less about exercise and more about intake. Even heavy exercise for 30 minutes a day doesn't burn off that many calories in comparison to what you can save by having a turkey sandwich with mustard on sugar free bread instead of even a healthy sandwich from a restaurant (not to mention fast food). A "classic turkey sandwich" from Chilis: 1340 calories and 64 grams of fat.
A home-made deli turkey sandwich as I described: 195 calories and 5 grams of fat.

You burn an additional 450 calories (http://www.fitnessonline.com/tools/calories/) by jogging at a decent pace for 30 minutes (vs. standing around). So by making a home-made sandwich versus eating one out, you save over 1000 calories and almost 60 grams of fat. And that's just one sandwich. Heck, you could eat two of those sandwiches and still save 800 calories and 55 grams of fat.
Exercise is important for a great many reasons, but it is not the key to weight loss.

BMI is a terrible gauge for body fat and shouldn't really ever be used for anything. While it has relatively high specificity (95% in men), it has a sensitivity of only 50%, making it completely useless (this means that 50% of overweight men are not overweight according to their BMI, and 5% of men who are overweight according to BMI, are actually not overweight at all).
