I'll turn off my music snob attitude for now and say they aren't bad at all. They aren't really bringing anything original to the table, but not every band can/wants to do that. I made it a hell of a lot further through those two songs/videos than I do for most modern rock music. Good lord, the stuff kids will listen to these days...
