    RAM help.

    Hey guys, recently I put together a pretty nice new rig for my self and stopped using my piece of shit HP desktop. Currently I'm still using the RAM from the old HP and I told my dad he can have my HP if he buys me nice new ram. I know a fair amount about computers but memory really isnt my forte, I don't know what to look for in ram. If I were to go look at for instance hard drives, graphics cards, processors etc I would be able to point out what's better and why. But with Ram I honestly have no idea what to look for either than how many GBs and how much it costs :P.

    The current Ram I am using is some shitty Samsung 8.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 669MHz (9-9-9-24). (4x 2gb)

    My comp;
    - Mobo; Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3
    - Processor; AMD Phenom II X6 1100T
    - GPU; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 SE

    What I am looking for;
    I am ONLY going to buy stuff from Ncix.com because they have a store right next to my house and I like supporting them, they have a great selection of stuff at a price I like so I dont really buy stuff from other stores. (Direct link to DDR3 Memory http://ncix.com/search/?categoryid=2-1303&q=8gb)
    -2 sticks of 4gb.
    -DDR3.
    -Must work with my Mobo.
    -Even though my dad is the one buying I dont want to ask him to pay for anything over ~80$. (House just got broken into and we lost 6600$ worth of stuff... so I wouldn't feel comfortable asking for anything too expensive.)

    Thanks for all the Help and I will refresh this thread often to see what everyone is saying.

    http://ncix.com/products/?sku=57953&...acture=G.Skill Boom. done.

    All you have to do when picking RAM is get something from a reputable manufacturer with a decent speed. 1600 is kind of a sweet spot for value. You probably won't even notice higher speeds anyway.

    Edit: I know it says "designed for intel 2nd gen core processors" but that's just (afaik) a marketing gimmick. You shouldn't have any trouble using it in your system.
