Planning on getting A+ Cert, looking for advice

Oh I know. But i'm the kind of person who by nature of who I am, stays up to date. And renewal is good in that the company that distributes the tests and Certs can make money off people multiple times. But for me, that's deserving of... yeah won't get into that now.

Keep in mind the tests aren't all the same. Yes, a lot of it is basic info, but your average computer novice isn't going to waltz in and ace the exam like some people will have you believe. Ask any random tech guy, and they'll say "oh, it's a joke, don't even study". They may even just be lucky, have an affinity for tests, or have huge egos.

Take every test seriously, it's your money. Study, do the practice tests, and don't underestimate anything. The advice not to do it your way is perfect. Your way doesn't matter, the test's way does. Some geniuses think their shortcuts will get the job done, and they won't always do that.

When I said I did what I did, it wasn't to encourage him to do the same. I have been around computers since I've been like 10 or so, so it just came naturally.

I'm back with updates: I failed the 701 by 11 points and passed the 702 with flying colors.

The main problem I had in the 701 was recalling all the printer and laptop information, by the end of the test it basically felt like that was all it was about..
