    Suggest Best Ram Kit z68

Hey guys I recently pieced together my new build I will be doing soon, and I am a bit confused on which ram I want/need that will perform the best. Honestly I will say right now the price is no object, but I was looking for something in the 12-16 gig area with tight timings and really don't understand how timings work and ect. Anyways..

This is what I had picked out for the build,

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231473
    G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133

I have been reading and I do understand 16gb is not needed for gaming but I do alot of video editing and codeing ect and run multiple games at once and have seen 6- 8gigs of my ram get buckled under my work. I also read that the timings on that memory is not really that great.

Can anyone suggest a ram kit for a compatible z68 maximus extreme motherboard, of 12 or 16 gigs, that has good timings and will fit under a Noctua NH-D14 120mm & 140mm SSO CPU Cooler

Normally I would say "16 GiB is overkill", but seeing your areas of interest, 16GiB will do just fine.

A few troubles arise though; High heatsink and bad timings. High clockspeed for RAM is usually a bit of a waste, a better idea would be reaching a middleground with timings and clockspeed. Say, 1600MHz and 9-9-9-24.

Meh, I looked it up, and it seems the heatsink is fine. I have a NH-D14 myself, but use lowerprofile RAM.
    In either event, I suggest 2x http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231445 kits, 8-8-8-24

EDIT - or, even lower-profile, with even lower voltage (a good thing in RAM) 2x http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231404 . This last one also has 8-8-8-24, but will be more expensive than your original choice.

I am actually going to be doing a 2600k and I cannot decide on what cpu cooler. It's between the h80 or h100 vs the nh-d14. I can't really decide. I want a overclock of around 4.8 ghz

I suggest against the H80 for sure.
The H100 and NH-D14 is probably going to be quite equal in performance. The NH-D14 have the advantage of being imposing and by far better looking.
The USD40 difference between a NH-D14 and a H100 is totally not worth it, though, unless you have spaceconcerns (and you still need room for a 240mm RAD, even a super-thin one like the H100).

Do note that the NH-D14 isn't quite as quiet as everyone does make it out to be. It's easily the loudest component in my case, by about twice as much as my GPU and PSU together. :P

Not sure how that compares to the NH-D14 though.

Compares how and in what sense? :P Noise-level? Probably louder. Price? Probably more expensive. Performance? Probably the same at low overclocks. Thanks to the 240mm RAD, albeit thin, is still more of a space-concern than the NH-D14 will ever be, as it interferes with many a case design.

lol yes noise... I'm fairly certain its more expensive.

Well I am going with the Haf X case. As far as I know, it is the most spacious case you can buy, the nh-d14 wouldn't be much an issue and I have seen it clear the gskill ripjawsX ram. It is also cheaper, the noise level doesn't honestly bother me as I am always wearing my headset with the sound cranked up or using my surround sound system.

It's spacious, but not the most. It will easily fit the NH-D14 or the H100 alike, though.

The h100 would seem to require a bit more attention to the installation considering doing a push pull system and mounting and ect. Also the price is obviously higher, I do beileve I will be going with the NH-D14 for the easier installation aspect, also it does server to cool the memory as well as the cpu and the benchmarks against the corsair series is spot on. The size for me is not an issue as it will look very smexy in my case.
