Need an RPG to play. Suggestions?

Hi all. Well it's been a while now since I played WoW (4 months to be exact) and to be fair I'm quite enjoying this new found sense of freedom ^^

I do still love to play games I just get sucked into WoW on unnatural levels. (I'm sure a big portion of MMO Champ understand what I mean)

So I need a good solid game that I can sink my teeth into, I'm into most game genre's but find I complete shooters too easy. Adventure games are cool too and Racers but I need a good long story to play through, so an RPG is probably the best bet.

Currently I have a 360 and my PC. I've been looking for RPG's on the 360 but none seem to be up to standards. To be honest the only one that has caught my attention is Tales of Vesperia but I've been told it's lackluster at best along with most of the other RPG's the 360 seems to throw out.

And so I turn back to my PC. I feel I must admit to never playing through any of the Diablo's or the old Warcraft games, people tell me they are terrific games I just don't want to start out on a game and get bored half way through.

So now I turn to you guys Can anyone suggest an RPG for PC (or 360) thats sets itself apart from the rest of those semi-epic ones.

    Many thanks

Best I've played in a while is the Witcher 2. Titan Quest: Immortal Throne, Torchlight, Morrowind, Fallout 3, Eschalon Book 2, Dungeon Siege 1 & 2, Dragon Age: Origins, Demigod (More strategy than RPG but has RPG elements - love this damn game BTW), Borderlands (FPS PRG)...

Then there's a ton of RPG flash games like Sonny which are great. The new Last Stand: Union City is very RPGish and awesome.

I don't know if you've played it or not but Dragon Age is a great game. I loved the story and got really sucked into it.

That's my opinion at least, I don't play console games much anymore so that's about as much as I can help you.

EDIT: Fallout 3 was also a good game. I haven't got around to playing the second DA so I don't know about that.

The reason you're not finding great RPGs on the 360 and PC is because they're rare (at least with current ones). Your best bet is to grab a SNES emulator or dust off an old SNES, play some of the classics like Lufia II, Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, Terranigma, Bahamut Lagoon, Seiken Densetsu 3 (Secret of Mana 2), Final Fantasy VI, Breath of Fire II, or even Super Mario RPG, or browse through a list of some of the better reviewed Indie titles released for the PC. The 360 has Tales of Vesperia as far as I know, and that's about it. Most RPG sites gave it at least a high B to an A, so it's worth checking out until Tales of Xillia hits stateside.

If you want an off the wall suggestion, Deadly Sin 2 (PC indie title) got really great reviews and is only about 20 bucks. It's 40+ hours of old-school greatness, the story's well done, the visuals are classic 2D, and in my opinion, is probably the best option for anyone who really loves RPGs that harken back to that Golden Age quality.

Fallout 3 is a must have and I believe the GotY edition is only $40 now. Oblivion is also a great title, but I find it's replayability to be lackluster compared to Fallout 3. Borderlands is another great title and I absolutely love hosting my own games and playing with other people (not to mention if you have friends on Xbox Live then you will have an absolute blast). Skyrim is coming out in November and is looking to be the best game of the year. Fallout: New Vegas is another great title (yeah I'm a sucker for Bethesda games) but it is plagued by slow loading screens and hella glitches. Dragon Age: Origins is another FANTASTIC game and the story is incredible and the gameplay is very fun. While others may disagree Dragon Age 2 is also an excellent game that will take around 20-30 hours to complete. I could go on and on, but these are basically my favorite games of this console generation and they will all run you 20 hours at the very least.

You could always pick up a copy of Neverwinter Nights 1 Platinum. It's getting to be an oldy, but for me the replay value has always been endless. I recommend it.

Is it an MMO or offline?

Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas are some of the best games I've ever played. You can also pick up Oblivion which is another amazing game.

Borderlands is another choice although it's more of a shooter than an RPG IMO, and if you play online basically every game has someone with modded guns.

Offline with online features which i doubt are available.Lost odyssey is'nt on demand yet and due to the 4 disks the max download would be 24gig.It's quite cheap due it being released at around 2008. it's $12.68 pre owned on amazon.

Another is blue dragon which is cracking too and near $3.

Elderscroll <anything>, each one I've gotten a hold of has been very nice. Morrowind > Oblivion in overall story but reverse that for overall gameplay/combat (thieving and freaky stealth related kills that aren't tied to combat excluded)

Fallout 3 and New Vegas were pretty sweet

Mass Effect YES!!!! Not just 1 but the second (and soon to be third) back to back.

Dragon Age: Origins was pretty fun, DA:2 was good the first playthrough.... only. For me at least. the second version seemed incomplete and less of a sequel than other games.
Signature not acceptable (e.g. too large), read http://www.mmo-champion.com/general-discussions-22/important-signatures/ - Regards, Olison
