Is there any "good" RP server ? (US)

Hi everyone ! I'd like to start over on a new server without transfering any of my existing char (mostly for fun and challenge), and while dooing this, i'd like to pick a good RP server. RPing is a thing that's interresting me for many years.. but i never tried it though. My main server is a RP server, but is unfortulatly known to have about no RP on it (at least on horde side).

So, is there any good US RP server ? (my chars will be on alliance)

I searched as most as i can on the internet about the RP servers (mostly on wowpedia, wowwiki, and with some google search), and it almost always says the same about all RP server. Here's the 2 points i see the most:

    - Big exodus of many RPers over the years. (to go where ?)
    - Good RP experience, if you can find it. (Find it ? is it like finding the true love, being out of luck for years and one day BOOM it happen, unexpected ?)

Anyway, nothing i've read helped me to make a decision.

I also heard of goldshire on moonguard, tried it and well.. that's a real joke. But i guess it keeps all the unwanted people on this server, which is not a bad thing..)

Here's what i'd like to see on a RP server. (Please tell me if i have to stop hoping for that..)

    - RP in the open worlds and in cities. (in /say. I dont expect to see everyone RPing, but seeing it at least once a day, while being able to join it without having 100% chance of being ignored is the least i'm expecting)
    - Some good RP guilds that are different from each other, and who knows what RP mean. (Not 15 guilds named "the knights of...", all seeking to save the world (all succesfully dooing it), and with 98% of members being almost-immortal heroes who personaly killed illidan, the lich king, and ragnaros (2 times))
    - The less ERP possible. (If i'm rolling a female char, i don't want to have a whisper every 5 minutes asking for ERP.)
    - Respect toward the RPers. (on my RP server right now, the only fact of saying "RP" in the trade channel is filling it will insults and laught. I don't understand why so many peoples roll on a RP server, while hating RP and RPers..)

Am i expecting too much of what wow can give RP-wise ? Should i stop dreaming ?

The server that seems the most interresting to me so far is "Wyrmrest Accord (US). Anything to say about that server ?

    All answers will be appreciated

Nothing wrong with Moonguard if you stay Horde side....Alliance side, watch your back.

My RP alts are on Wyrmrest and Moonguard and both are pretty good.

Wyrmrest(I play horde): Seems more solid horde side than alliance but the RP is strong and there seems a very small amount of just...really bad RP. Silvermoon is constantly full of RPers. Other cities are less so, but if you actually want to find a RP guild, it's probably the best.

Moonguard(I play Alli): Ton of RP, most of the public RP is terrible though. Any RP server you can find solid RP in guilds, this server just seems to have a lot more open bad RP than good. If you are new and you want a lot of public RP everywhere and you don't mind, well, immature RP, Moonguard is a lot more active.

To me, and just my opinion, Moonguard reminds me of highschool and Wyrmrest I feel like the majority of people I see and/or play with RP on an adult level. Not the best way to put it but most public RP I see on MG makes me cringe. There is a ton more of it though.

    Thanks for your answers

First of all, i want to be on alliance. (To take a break from my main server with 10 horde char)

About Moonguard, i never made it to stormwind. I created a lvl 1, ran directly to goldshire (because peoples said there were alot of RP there, i was curious about that), and deleted my toon 2 minutes after. Sure, there was about 50 toons in gold shire, but nobody was interracting with anyone. If everyone want to do a wan-man-show (even with a good story or a nice acting), the global quality of RP is pretty bad. Add to that alot of stupid things, and it make it worst than hell.

About Wyrmrest, i was about to settle on this server, but now that you say the horde RP is stronger than the alliance RP, i'm thinking that maybe all the good things i read about that server is only on horde side.
Anyway, i will try it, stand in stormwind a little bit. But hmmm..., as i read, i see that on horde side, most RP are generaly in Silvermoon, what about the alliance ? Would standing in Stormwind for 30 minutes give me a good shot about the RP capability of a server ?

Yeah, WRA alli doesn't seem bad. I have a low level alli I started working on there and there was a lot of active RP, my friends just don't RP alli there. One thing you can do is look at the official server realm forums. I haven't really looked in awhile, but there was a lot of alli RP events and active guilds. Horde is just really really active. http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/1182815/

A lot of RP on alli side happens in SW taverns, so that's a good place to start. One thing that really got me onto that server mainly was my friend taking me to an event. You should see when some things are going on and yeah, just roam. Last time I played my alli the streets and taverns were pretty active(outside of the area around the bank/ah), though it was at peak playing time.

    Good luck =]

Nobody that told you to go to Goldshire on Moon Guard was being serious. Goldshire, AKA "Pornshire," is a hive of debauchery and depravity. It is where the eRPers congregate on that server. They go to Moon Guard's Goldshire inn, sit down, and fap to pixelated models of naked night elves dancing on tables. Everyone knows about Pornshire.

Just sayin', don't let that place alone put you off Moon Guard. I say that as someone who's neutral about the whole affair - I do not do ingame RP, nor do I play Alliance.

Thanks for those additional info i'll definetly try Wyrmrest.

About Moon Guard, i trust you when you say that this "joke" ends at the border of goldshire, but you know, when something give you a very bad first impression, it's pretty hard to try it again.. even more when there are other alternatives.

Also, if RPing get me, and i end up dooing it pretty often, saying "i RP alot on Wyrmrest" will be recieved much better than "i RP alot on Moonguard". lol

I'm a little late to the party... but... if you're interested in RPing, try it out here! We've got a great community, and a large cache of snacks!

Also, as people've said, Wyrmrest is good

Free snacks ? hmmm, that's tempting

I tried once to RP on a forum, but it's something very hard for me. I can easily write down my char's background, as a 3rd person, and that's something i enjoy (i have much imagination.. too much sometimes), althought gooing in-depths is tricky since the only place i use english is in front of my computer. But to RP as a 1st person (i'm a troll and i'm talking to you), i realy need an pixelizated environnement.

Anyway, thanks for the invitation. I'll still read some topic on here, maybe i'll like it ?

I'm the same way. I used to hardcore RP ingame but have never been good at written RP. You should read some of the more indepth ones and see if it's for you. I'm sure they work with and are patient with newer Rpers. =]

It's funny how that works, I never really got into in-game RP all that much, and I've prefered text-based roleplaying since I started :P

And you're quite right, we're very patient and willing to work with anyone to get their character or story or whatever to be as nice as possible. Because that's how we roll! Uphill. Because we can.

Wyrmrest, represent. Alliance-side, Stormwind is always bustling with activity, especially around the Pig and Whistle, Blue Recluse, and the Cathedral District. Horde-side I'm not 100% sure on yet, I'll get back to you once I get s'more WoW time and get a chance to run my lil' elf girl around the cities.
Be seeing you guys on Bloodsail Buccaneers NA!

We always roleplay in the third person perspective on here. First person on forums is.. different. It really takes a certain kind of character and the right writing style for it to be something worth doing. It's awesome and open doors to some interesting innternal conversations if you've got the right kind of character and writing style, but if you don't it's just annoying. First person on forums tends to be true first person (your character Bob and I), though, not first and second (me and you).

But yeah, give it a go. The quality of RP on forums tends to be exponentially better and there's much more room for creativity since nobody here will look at you like you have three heads if you don't stick to the basic races and the basic classes.
