I just bought this off newegg, I know I'd save money building my own, blah blah, but it seemed like a good deal and a solid starter. My current pc is laughable and I'd be embarassed to post its specs.

Fucking A. Great deal there. If you built it yourself you may have saved ~100 or around there which really isn't much at all for a pre-built rig. Will be able to run anything you throw at it, though BF3 and high graphic intensive games should run at medium with 30-40ish FPS which is still good. Might even run at high.
Great deal, saved yourself the hassle of building it yourself.
