A 41-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Queensland teenager Daniel Morcombe, who went missing on the Sunshine Coast in 2003.
The man, who will appear in Brisbane Magistrate's Court on Monday, was also charged with several other offences including child stealing and interfering with a corpse.
Daniel was 13 when he disappeared from an unofficial bus stop under an overpass in the Woombye district of the Sunshine Coast, about 2km north of The Big Pineapple on December 7, 2003.
He had intended to catch the 1.35pm bus to the Sunshine Plaza Shopping Centre to buy Christmas presents for his family but he failed to return.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing him around 2pm on the Nambour-Connection Road under the overpass.
The bus he was supposed to catch had broken down a short distance from his stop, and was behind schedule.
A replacement bus was sent out, but it was running late and didn't stop to pick the boy up. However, the bus driver radioed the depot for another bus to go and collect Daniel.
When the second bus came a couple of minutes later, Daniel was gone.

My heart goes out to the family. I could not imagine having my son go missing for so many years without answers as to who had taken him or what had happened. I remember when this all happened I was his age at the time.

It is sickening that this type of thing happens and I hope he gets what he has coming to him.

I'm glad for his family that they now have some closure. I cant imagine what they have gone through for the past 8 years.. but they never gave up. They kept looking.

He was a convicted pedo, so the motives were simply, kidnap and rape -> murder.

how did they even find out this guy did it? I'm not trying to disprove it, I just want to know is all. I kinda just skimmed through the link, but as far as I could tell I didn't see how they caught the murderer.
