Can you believe he was set to design the scenography in Dune with Ridley Scott as director before preproduction went south? All respect to David Lynch but him and De Laurentiis really fucked up that story.
Ot - i always loved Close Encounter. Blade Runner and Alien 1 is classics. The first 30-40ish mins of Spielbergs War of the worlds is some of the best scifi ive seen recently - sadly the rest of the movie is so-so.

    Sunshine is allso worth watching.

The 1980's Dune adaptation was full of a lot of win for me. It was fairly spot on, with a couple gimmicks thrown in to up the action a bit.

I really enjoyed District 9, it was a very well made movie with a neat backstory(Apartheid)

But I voted other, because I have a toss up of 3 different movies. The Last Winter, The Immaculate Conception of Little Dizzle and Pontypool(based on book, and collaborated on by the author of the book)

Last Winter is sort of a thriller/environmentalist Scifi about Spirit type beings coming from oil wells and making people go crazy/killing them. Very interesting watch, a lot of good talent as far as acting and directing goes.

The Immaculate Conception of Little Dizzle is kind of a strange one. One of those movies where you are just left baffled at the end due to the bizarre concept. Buttfish.

Pontypool, is well Pontypool. The best way to describe it is to read the book and imagine a situation produced by the event that takes place. Full book title is "Pontypool Changes Everything" by Tony Burgess.

They had 4 straight-to-DVD movies in between the series end in Season 4 and the series reboot in Season 5.

And they were some damn fine films.
