previous generation processor, 2 generations old non-gaming gpu. Simply put ignore it and move on with your search.

Check out something like a GTX460 Gcard. That seems to be your biggest issue. Also, you CPU is non-optimal but it will do. Or an ever better and quite power gtx 560 TI. Both of them can handle wow ultra 60 fps raiding if they are backed by a good CPU.

GTX 560 TI stable at 1GhZ
    PCPartPicker Love it.

That is a terrible system by any standards.

If it's a Laptop, you'll get better performance out of a "Llano" APU.

If it's a Desktop, 500 pounds can easily buy you a decent gaming PC, especially if you build it yourself (or at least customize it).

12kg laptop? Not in this decade.

Anyway, it's waste of £500. You need too many upgrades to make it 25-man viable.

    Trolling should be.

It's way better than mine and I can run 25m just fine. No, you don't need ultra settings to raid.

    - change cooler to the stock option (-£23)
    - add graphics card Nvidia GTS450 (+£66)
    For a total of £610

That is the baseline if you want to raid 25-mans at higher than medium settings, and it's still fairly upgradeable.

    Strange how technology "progresses".
You missed the 8 years of patches perhaps?

Also you most likely played on a crappy 800x600 monitor back in 2004, 1920x1080 has 4.3 times the pixels, meaning it requires 4.3 times the raw computing power to keep up at the same speed.

I like my WoW to look like the original Doom from 1993 too...
    Not.

The requirements have nothing to do with technology "progressing". It has everything to do with a 7 year old game engine being flogged to death to do things it was never designed to.
