    GPU Upgrade

    Looking for a GPU upgrade.

At the moment I've got a Gigabyte 460 1gb OC.

    Looking to spend around £200-250tops.

    My screen resolution is 1920 x 1080.

    What would you people recommend.

Not sure about European prices (I know it varies based on country, but I'm not really sure where to look)

    GTX 580
    GTX 570
    GTX 560 ti

Top 3, IMO (in before NVidia fanboy - just prefer them and have had better experiences. I know there are AMD cards that are better than the 560, for example, but I would choose the 580 > the comparable AMD's, same for the 570 and 560 ti. Just covering my bases before I get flamed.)

Getting a second 460 will give you much better results than replacing your existing one with a 560ti, or even a 570.
Your greed, your foolishness has brought you to this end.

problem is SLi scaling in some games make it not worth it. Also, we're unsure if the OP's mobo is set for SLi. Also, Getting a 560 ti then a second will perform better than a 570, and allows for future upgrades, where a second 460 has now capped his system.

If you're going to upgrade get at least a 6970 or 570... anything less wouldn't be much of an upgrade.
If the radiance of a thousand suns were to burst at once into the sky, that would be like the splendor of the Mighty One... now I am become Death, the Destroyer of Worlds.

My mobo is a Gigabyte X58A-UD3R, So SLI is fine.

True enough, you CAN get screwed over by games badly optimised for SLI/Xfire.

But with 250£ the most bang for the buck is if he gets a second 460. Even if he has to spend some of it in order to get a new PSU. Any single card within his price range is nowhere near 2 460s.

Note: The performance gain in games wary. Some games you may experience 90% performance gain by having 2 cards. In others it may be 70%. Some games may not even support sli/xfire. But these are mostly console ports, and they dont require much anyway.

I would still suggest a 570 as it's not capping the system and will allow to SLi 570s in the future, which just makes my little heart pound with anticipation.

    Does wow support SLI?

Going to be playing new titles once they come out, bf3,mw3,acr so hopefully SLI shouldn't be buggy.

pushing SLi isn't even necessary for WoW, though you will see some gains from going SLi in wow, it doesn't utilize it nearly as much as other top end games.

Thanks for the reply. So it seems it may be worth getting another 460.

To SLI them do they have to be the exact same card manufacturer? The website I got my 460 from doesn't sell them anymore.

Doesn't matter if they are different brands as long as they have the same gpu.
