How are healers viewing the threat change?

I suspect they'll be raging for having to deal with mediocre tanks just because they have high threat.

    Am I correct?

Though I guess a proper guild will not care, it will have the tanks in check. But a 5man will be like "DPSes are ok with it, tank is ok with it, WHY AM I SUPPOSED TO HEAL MASSIVELY A LOW GEARED PERSON?"

I'd rather deal with a mediocre tank that can hold threat, than deal with one where I'm healing the entire god damned party all the time. It's not like they're dropping the gear requirement for heroics. This is a generally good thing for everyone.

Hrm, good, even though that's not clearly "threat's fault". It could be a DPS fault sometimes.

I'm not saying it's the DPS' fault if they are 374 and they are put to group with a 350 tank, but for example, if the DPS is single-targeting not the target of the tank.

Yesterday I tried to take agro from a target a good geared paladin tank was merely AOEing. I couldn't.

With an Arcane Mage on a semi-burn. We're talking about massive agros by the new tanks.

Honestly I don't get all the whining about it. Threat hasn't been a problem at all thus far in the expansion (if you knew what you were doing). Adding 200% extra threat generated just helps with fights light Majordomo which is the only fight in Cataclysm where I have to use Hand of Salvation on cooldown. Bad tanks couldn't do threat before because they were doing it wrong. Bad tanks won't be able to generate threat properly now either because... wait for it... they are doing it wrong.

And as for your question, I've had instances on my alt healers where I've had tanks fully decked in greens and ilvl 339 pvp gear not pushing a single defensive cooldown once, standing in shit, unable to turn the boss away from the group, etc. That happened with 300% threat, I don't think it'll get worse with 500% threat.

I'm not whining, I don't have any healer. Just trying to see if not all are happy.

(I get an Arcane Mages into 5mans, I certainly don't whine)

I don't understand the question. Healers' game didn't change with this. Maybe DPS will pull aggro less often now, hurray. I couldn't care less if I can save an aggro puller or not.

Me as a feral (dps in high gear) and a friend (paladin tank in low gear) tried this last night, the split second he attacked the mob in lfd, I went full out on the mob. I never passed 50% threat, I didn't even creep up on threat with hero, pot, tf+berserk, so yeah, threat is def fixed. Which I think is good.

    Majordomo Fandral Staghelm

All threat generated in this encounter has been reduced in Heroic difficulty.
They've already taken that into consideration

Threat won't make a difference to the quality of tanks in LFG. You'll still get plenty in crappy pvp gear that think they can tank, without using cds or CC.

Please tell me why in hell there would be a connection between: threat and gear?

Bad tanks tank bad. This is not affected by threat generation.
The buff to threat only says that a bad tank can generate more aggro.
The good tank will overcome the lack of gear/aggro by this buff.
    It's more liek a win-win situation IMO.

What this thread tells me is that.. WHATEVER Blizzard does...
people will find some reason to gripe about it.

There may be downsides to the threat change.
This is NOT one of them.

This right here. Instead of bad tanks causing wipes because they can't hold aggro now the group will be able to succeed. Also this will have more tanks doing heroics because it's a little easier now.

So instances will get complete, and the queue time will drop. I don't see any problem there.

The part that actually matters is the second part of this change that will come in 4.3 with tanks becoming more active on their survivability, should make things a lot more interesting, discussing this threat change on its own is rather pointless

Every healer should rejoice because of this. The problem with bad tanks isn't that they require more healing, it's that dps overaggro too easily (even while holding back) and THEY require more healing.

    100% wrong
stupid tanks will always be around... now they will be slightly less shitty

Better gear means better threat... There is 9/10 times more strength on an upgrade. (Or agility, if druid.) A tanking weapon upgrade is also more damage, more damage is more threat. Someone in 333ilvl gear will, in fact, do less damage than someone in 359ilvl. Proven fact!

OT: I approve of threat buff. It was not hard at all to tank before, and now it just easily let's me actually watch what's going on around me other than worrying about a "proper" rotation and watching what is happening. I've played a tank since BC. Anyone complaining about a threat boost for tanks needs to go play in traffic. I'd consider it along the lines of "WHAT?! YOU'RE GIVING ME A RAISE? SCREW THIS COMPANY I QUIT!"
