Guild Wars 2
Star Wars The Old Republic

Traditional MMO with a high degree if polish vs. New dynamic style also with high degree of polish. Depends what you want.
Both seem very story based, though guild wars 2 appears to bring more new stuff to the table. If this is what you're interedted in, choose Guild wars 2.
If youre after a more story driven, traditional MMO then Star Wars is probably better for you.
guild wars 2 for me, big problem for me about TOR is that its very similar to wow so as i am not a star wars fan the lore/story doesn't interest me at all. while GW2 is doing alot of different things. i am also more interested in tera than i am about TOR
Guild wars 2 looks awesome
I dont get the hype over swtor, it looks boring to me... its nothing different, except that all npcs have voice acting. talking with npcs is boring, even with VA
I'd like to say that they would be comparible...but, ones fantasy ones sci-fi (that's a preference), ones monthly fee the other has no monthly fee (will that affect to long term running of the game, e.g micro transactions being dominant...if even there at all for income to support it) Never played GW1 so idk really how it works
Imo, ToR looks really good from whats been shown but it's just my bias towards Star wars, and the fact galaxies is being shut down :/

SW:tor.
As every Guild Wars 2 video/demo has bore me to death. No matter how much people show me of it, I just cannot at all seem excited for it.
TOR looks like wow with a star wars pallet and so no doubt it has a fanbase already- god knows ive seen star wars fanboys who know nothing about the game defend it to the last on message boards for no other reason than "its star wars! and an mmo" but honestly ive tried it and its wow with a pallet swap out and dragon age dialogue choices that in the long run are the same "moral choices" that are either 'kill nuns' or 'brush kittens' and that got tired for me a long time ago.
Guild wars is offering something different to wow, TOR isn't. its just a pallet swap from warcraft to star wars. and after the prequels ive been done with lucas well milked cash cow for a long time. but people still want to believe 'maybe this time...' with every star wars game and just like every other time most will be left cool to it. a sizable amount with adore it utterly purely because the sword is replaced with a lightsabre.
I'm just looking forward to a leveling experience where I don't skip through the story elements of quest text.
Do we really need one of these threads every single day?
Guild Wars 2 for me, hands down... I don't play WoW anymore, why would I want to play a re-skinned version of it? (swtor)
while i dont mind such discussions and follow it with interrest, they belong on the Off-topic forum
Guild Wars 2, for the following reasons:
1) More interesting combat, with the ability to dodge and no auto attack. SWTOR combat looks dull in comparison.
2) It's FREE to play.
3) More beautiful art style, IMO.
4) SWTOR is full of cut scenes everywhere. No thanks, I want to PLAY, not stand there listening to speeches and selecting dialog choices.
Guild wars 2 for the PvP, definitely; production quality is above ToR too, which is nice. I find it funny that a sub-par game like ToR will have a monthly-fee while GW2 won't.
The general combat in ToR looks tired while GW2's is very energetic.
ToR raid-type thing:
GW2 PvP (3:25 for window charge):
Bonus GW2 PvE video to compare if you want:
You guys need to relax and join in on the discussion while you can. The moderators will take care of it when they notice it, no need to post just to whine about it.
GW2.
Swtor is too similar to WoW but with... Star Wars. I mean, some people will love that! But not me.
GW2 has everything I've ever wanted in an MMO.
Edit: And its B2P with lots of expansions. PERFECT for my empty wallet!

Hard to say. Both will do pretty well in the mmo market because they fill in a niche Wow doesn't.
