    Building a Home Computer

    Hey Guys,
My dad has tasked me with building the rest of the family a computer, it won't really be taxed graphics wise other than the occasional youtube video, but he wants a lot of memory on it for videos of baseball games/music/work files/ect. so would this work?
    Hard Drive - http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...939&CatId=2459 RAM - http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...284&CatId=4534 MoBo - http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...962&CatId=7162 Processor - http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...800&CatId=4731 OS - http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...932&CatId=4622 Graphics Card (Not really sure if it will need one but I included it anyways) - http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...842&CatId=3585 Fan - http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...157&CatId=2216 PSU - http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...735&CatId=1078
Thanks in advance for any replies

The motherboard (socket 1155) and CPU (socket 1156) are not compatible. With that build you'd also have needed a dedicated GPU as it doesn't have one integrated.
It's also likely they are more powerful than needed. Consider getting an E-350 instead. Has better graphics than required, but can handle 1080p movies no hassle.
It's a motherboard, cpu and gpu all in one, better apt for home-use.

As Tetris said, a Fusion build is excellent for a home PC that will be used lightly to check e-mail, youtube, word/writing, movies, vacation pictures and browsing. Not only can it be extremely small, it's also fairly cheap and pulls close to NO electricity.

I built this just the other week and I'm more than happy with the price/performance, size and low energy consumption.

I only got a 250Gb drive in mine and 4Gb RAM, but you could easily slap in 2x 640Gb drives (and 6-8Gb RAM if you prefer) in there to meet the storage needs.

So here's my search result page http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...keywords=E-350 from there I went -> MoBos -> AMD and ended with http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...=0&highprice=0
If I chose the correct things, which of those would work the best for me? Thanks for the quick replies btw

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...34458&CatId=13 This one is the small form-factor that Marest also built his computer with. You seethat black box next to his keyboard? Yea. That small!

my dad wants something as small as Marest has, would it be possible to do that with all the components above

Anyone know if a case like this would be suitable for him? http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...843&CatId=3428

These hard drives are fast but noisy. Get a Samsung Spinpoint F3 or WD Caviar Blue if you care about the noise.

    newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129095 - case shown in Marest's pic
newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131697 - mobo that tetris mentioned
newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820134786 - ram to fit that mobo
newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152168 - 500 GB HDD that should fit in that case, I'd buy 2 if you think you need 1TB storage as the cheapest 1TB drive I saw was a bit more than a pair of these.

and that should be all you'd need other than peripherals - monitor, mouse & keyboard - and operating system.

and if you need windows you can get OEM - no support from Microsoft - for ~ $95 from newegg as well.

or am I missing something and you have a need to use Tiger Direct?

The one thing I can say you did miss, is that while the case does support two drives (which is impressive given the size), it only supports 2.5" drives, not 3.5" sadly.

In other words, laptop-sized hard drives.
EDIT: Otherwise, nicely compiled and researched. I'm impressed you managed to deduce and find the case from only that picture.

That was the easy part... it was the only Antec case in the mini-itx cases on newegg...

but yeah, I did miss it takes 2.5" drives so...

I fixed my post to accommodate a smaller drive size.

No, I just prefer Tigerdirect to Newegg due to the stories I've heard about their shipping quality, thanks for the replies and links too

newegg = better prices, and I've never had a single issue with their shipping.

Also, microcenter is a valid option to run price checks at just to make sure you're getting the best price available.

With http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129095 would you still have a CD input places, can't think of the word right noew, and 80W PSU seems kinda low. I was also wondering what OEM meant

Nope. in that case there is no room for a CD or DVD player. I would personally recommend the Antec ISK 300 if you want a DVD player (a bit bigger case = more room to work with).

As for the 80W PSU: It's plenty. The Fusion MoBo pulls around 28-30W at FULL load, and a slim (2.5") HDD pulls around 5W at absolute full load. 80W is plenty.

I've never had a problem with newegg and I've been using them for years with various upgrades and most recently my first ground up build in MANY years.
