    HDMI Sound Issue

    Are HDMI ports specific?
I have an onboard HDMI port that says nothing but "HDMI", I was wondering if I could use this as sound. However, every time I hook my HD sound system, it pops up as a PNP Monitor. Is there any way to fix this? Or am I being stupid and trying to shove a sound cord in a video connector?

    Thanks

While an HDMI port can carry sound, its primary function is a monitor port. Perhaps you should buy a dedicated sound card?

Unless you plan to use the HDMI port for your audio and video you will run into issues selecting the default device.
