Good try on the trolling thing. A person with infuence as it was suggested giving a negative view on why they're quitting is what? The OP basically said they're quitting because Blizz can't get a spec right they've never gotten right.

Really sucks to see you leave dude, certainly understandable reasons.

This is unfrotunately way too true. I'm getting there myself, not that I'm some super star player or anything, but I've been primarily Ret for almost 6 years now, even if my main was a Mage for the latter half of tBC. Seeing some things in this game now with the way classes play, is certainly discouraging.

There is no reason in totally abandoning everything about WoW and it's community either, jus because you no longerv play. especially not mmo-c, since it has a ton of off-topic forums. I play WoW but spend most of my time on those forums.

Here's to buffs to sustained dps for ret! In memory of Prentice.

Also I like badpaladin's avatar. Amazing band live.
I used to like WoW. I still do, but I used to, too.

I thought you were kidding when I saw it in your RealID emote. I didn't want to be one of those dudes that overreacts to a joke, especially since you often use your emotes as a conversation with several people that i dont have on realid.

If you're still reading this thread, then I can't express how helpful you have been to me in regards to playing my paladin as ret. I would liked to have grouped with you through the realid thing, and run some 5mans, but your post really says all the reasons why I never really saw you on outside of your raid times. If you were tiring of raiding, im sure 5mans werent really on your radar.

Thanks again for all your help, your videos, your constructive criticism, and so forth. You will be missed in the ret community.

    Good luck.

I know im late to the party here but...

Its sad to see you go prentice, I know I always valued you, your opinions and skill at the class.

Best of luck to you in your future endeavors.
I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money; but what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I've acquired over a very long career, skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now that will be the end of it. I will not look for you, i will not pursue you but if you don't; I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.

Would be lying if I said I didn't know exactly how you felt. Cataclysm has been a very bad expansion. All the previous ones had their flaws, but there was enough to look past them. Cataclysm has just been bad.

Good Luck with whatever comes next Prentice.

Just don't play if you don't like the game, come back when you think you will again.
As another one also said, it's probably because he's got some history at the forum. Just saying goodbye to everything.

I have invested so much time in my paladin that quite honestly i rather give up wow than start over again, with a new class.

At the present moment being a protection paladin is pointless. I can get agro with spamming crusader strike alone and watching my power auras line up my survival cooldowns.

As my offspec, being ret paladin, i find myself hopeless never being able to compete for top dps spot as my elistist super-duper guildies with better specs always get the gold medal.

Anyways, dont want to capture this thread as my own complain thread. this is about an "old" paladin retiring because he doesnt like to logon anymore. I feel your pain, i understand and I bid you good luck.

Title was awesome. Sad to see a fellow WoW player leave especially after such a long time of playing. GL IRL

PS: Calling people noobs irl is not a good idea.

But now where will I find my new dubstep songs?

Farewell Mr Prentice, I hope you find whatever it is you're looking for. You helped me to become a better player and for that I will have to thank you. Will you be hanging around the forums still, despite this departure? Or is a final goodbye?

good luck and have fun. Its always sad to see a veteran leave the game, especially like someone like your self who has tried to defend our class amd suggest improvements only for it to fall on deaf ears.

Nearly the entire time I spent playing this game was on a ret paladin and I have no regrets about that. From my early days of Karazhan, Magtheridon, and Gruul to clearing 6/7 heroic Firelands, I have seen it all. From the highs of slaying the ultimate bad guys like Illidan, Kil'Jaeden and Lich King, I have enjoyed my time immensely, but its time for me to move along. Prentice is officially retired.

Recently I find that I've been struggling to find the motivation to log on. I'll try not to QQ too much about the current state of things, but this is not the spec that I have loved for almost half a decade. I completely understand the developers wanting to go a different direction and I applaud their efforts. While there are still a few glaring flaws with the spec, it has certainly evolved and matured. The days of whack-a-mole WotLK ret and Seal of Casino TBC are long gone. Seal-twisting, Judgement of Seal of Blood one-shotting me, and automating my Divine Storm procs are all a thing of the past.

Now I know better than anyone that I wasn't the best ret out there, but I was decent and I'm okay with that. Spending the last 9 months of my time in this game watching grossly undergeared players of other classes out-perform me simply because of the spec I chose has worn me down enough to make the decision to call it quits. I'm certainly not hating on those other players. I was the stupid one for continuing to play a spec that I knew wasn't going to cut it in the long run. I made several posts on the WoW forums with my opinions, but as you would expect they were unanswered. Changes need to be made, numbers need to be tweaked, and the developers need to realize that ret pallys(most) never wanted to be rogues.

I'll tie off the QQ there. Because I will no longer be playing WoW, I will no longer be needing the services here at MMO-Champion. Despite my tiffs with some of the big dogs here, its been a lot of fun. I've really enjoyed the community of the pally forums over the years. I've learned a lot here and it definitely made me a better player. For those aspiring to reach new heights as a ret pally, you simply need to ask. There are still quite a few excellent players that frequent these boards and most are more than willing to offer their assistance.

Best of luck to you all and thanks for the ride.
