It should play the games you listed. COD is a console port franchise and Valve dont release graphics/CPU intensive games.
It also used to be 999, and its visible. 540M, i5-2410, 6GB ram. The only downside is the 5400RPM HDD, so the load times wont be stellar.Your greed, your foolishness has brought you to this end.

Yes, but make sure it is thin enough. Some 2.5 inch HDDs are to thick for laptops, this is also the case for SSDs.
