    Bannable Words on the Forums

I'd like to get an idea of how many people would like to see the following words become a bannable offense on the forums:

    - Baddie
    - Casual
    - Scrub
    - Noob
    - Wrathbaby
    - Elitist
    - Hardcore

I see these words frequently used in a lot of posts to demean other posters and players, and to make those that use them feel superior. I cringe when I see people refer to LFD as "full of baddies" or raiding as "full of casuals". Who else feels upset at being described by any of these terms, regardless of raid history, general skill level, or disposition? These words in particular add nothing to a discussion and are not constructive, especially as they send a message that the writer is unwilling to listen to other viewpoints.

You wouldn't have a forum if half of those words were bannable... let alone all of them :P

    - Baddie - meh, that's like banning "idiot" - but it is annoying
    - Casual - Involves description of a style of gameplay, and not offensive to anybody
    - Scrub - See "Baddie"
    - Noob - See "Baddie"
    - Wrathbaby - I always hated this one personally... I'd love to see this go
    - Elitist - See "Casual"
    - Hardcore - See "Casual"

its not those words on their own that deserve the ban

its usually the fail contents of the thread/post

e.g. Tri-spec threads should be instant infraction/ban imo (and many other topics that are flayed to death on a daily basis)

The thing I see happening a lot is once that word is used, it sends a signal about the person who used it. They deem you to be a "casual" or a "bad", and then anything you say from then on in is just the "bad's viewpoint". All ability to have a constructive conversation vanishes. Gone.

You wouldn't have a forum if half of those words were bannable... let alone all of them :P
Yeah I laughed when I read that. It's pretty sad that I think it's true.

    - Class Nerfs
    - World Pvp/Old World
    - No LFD

Those are the ones off the top of my head right now.

It's good to have the words, then you can distinguish between which posts you should just ignore completely. Every time there is a discussion on a subject and one of those words come up (unless it's casual, since that's an actual English word that can describe a lot of things (Yes hardcore and scrub are English words too, but they're just never used in a good way) and can be used without it being offensive, whereas the others are never really positive and hardcore is so vague that it should just stay away from any other subjects than pr0n), I just ignore that poster completely, and skip to the next reply. It's like in real life conversation, if someone begins saying "like" before and after every sentence, I know I should just walk away slowly and find someone else to talk to

Forgot "I'm Quiting but i'm Really going to check this site every day and post in every thread about how the game fails and -INSERT NEW MMO HERE- is going to do everything right and kill wow".

If I could ban anything, it's "rose-tinted glasses" and anything along those lines. As soon as someone even like a tiny piece of Vanilla or TBC, they get "ROSE-TINTED GLASSES i-never-played-it-but THE GAME WAS HORRIBLE WHINEWHINEWHINE" thrown at them.
I don't get what's bad about bringing forth good and bad pointers from different expansions and then discuss that... buuut that's for another thread.

    "Blizzard shits on <insert class>"

    Wrathbaby needs to freaking die.

I started in Wrath and I'm 6/7 Firelands. I know my class, my rotation, how to gem/enchant my gear, I know the fights to raids, and I try to help people who need it. What now?

This is just a horrible idea. The last thing these forums need is more censorship. I got banned for a month on here for making some borderline racist comments which pissed me off pretty badly. Funny how people played the "race card" on me when I stated nothing but facts in the post that got me banned. Anyway, I just don't see how anyone could take offense to the words you listed. Without even looking at the poll results I can very safely say the VAST majority of people will agree with me. Hell, if they censor these forums anymore than they are now, I'll be one less person looking at them in the future.

Nothing wrong with casual and hardcore. I consider myself as casual (I find raiding casually much more enjoyable, but I'm capable of hardcore stuff). Paragon and guilds like that are hardcore.

Both times I've been infracted were over the word "nerd".

So rediculous that I honestly can't tell if you're serious. The people who frequent this site return because we enjoy how it is run and not how it *should* be. EJ forums are found elsewhere, where discussion is indeed civil but enjoy being banned for not punctuating properly.

If a shaman tells you that he can't tank, he's just not doing it right.
