It's a very interesting game and I've completed it, it's got tons of lore but at the same time you're not forced to listen to it.
The voice actor is really awesome and the gametime is 7-8 hours if you want to rush through it, 15-30 hours if you want the additional content after beating it.
You can increase the difficulty by turning things on at some kind of altar at your bastion, instead of the old boring new/average/expert that pops up before you start.
