Random BG's are for gearing... why waste the gold on a crafted set when you can gear up, have a good time, and learn how to play your class doing randoms? That's my opinion at least. And as it is a public queue system, I have every right to do that.
This problem could probably be fixed by not allowing multiple people in a queued group to report the same person. It's really not fair that a group of 5 can dictate what an individual must do in a RANDOM BG (I can't stress this enough, it's a RANDOM BG, if you want to rage about poor execution then go play rated BGs). If I feel like defending, or feel like attacking, I should be able to. And if you queue with a group of 5 for RANDOM BGs and need to "kick baddies" to win, then you're bad to begin with. When my poorly geared PvE guild run 5-man randoms for fun we win 80+ % of the time, minus AV and IoC obviously.
On the other hand, if 3 (or 4 or whatever) people independently think you need to be kicked, well then you probably deserve to be kicked.

Spamming report afk will eventually get people kicked instantly.
I gota love this button. Now we just need a addon who autodetects bots and report them.
Don't sweat the details!!!
Never seen this, only the debuffs. Sounds more like a bug tagging you as /afk while in the battle which does cause an instant kick + debuff. Maybe post it in bug reports forum on the blizz website?
it has nothing to do with ur gear or not being SUPER PROZORS....my mage has full s10 with 4k res and its happened to me too....
Because grinding gear in a random bg is now receiving a boost? Oh please, how else will people get gear... world pvp? Lol!
What are those kicking elitists doing in a random bg in the first place? Maybe they got kicked from their rated team and want to grief others, who knows. Anyway, what I'm trying to say: don't expect people to be all that fantastic in a random freaking BG, lol.
On topic: this is obviously a problem, but every system is bound to have some flaws in it. I welcome this change if it can kick botters faster. What surprised me, is that the first action taken for so many, is posting about it on an unofficial forum. I'm not getting the impression here that many also make a ticket in the game, on bnet, or start a thread on the official forums. This won't get fixed by QQ'ing about it here.
Edit: by the way, 5 man instances have a new system for kicking at the moment. Blizz explained in recent blue posts (check the tracker, not going to hold everyone's hadn and link it) that the vote/kick system has restrictions if people who went in queue as a group. For example: 3 pre-grouped people will need the vote of the 4th to kick someone. I think it's only a matter of time before this is implemented for battlegrounds as well, which would solve a larg part of the problem. At least judging by these posts, people see a lot of groups from the same guild / realm kicking people.
That being said, with the real-id cross realm invites in place now, there might actually be a lot more pre-made groups then people realize. You know, since you can't really tell if they're cross realm friends or not. Some food for thought right there.

This just came in:
[Kick] has now been improved and removes the opponent from the Battleground or Arena when used.
OT: Happened to me on my alt as well. I got the Idle debuff first, got into combat, got the Idle debuff again. I got into combat again and got removed from the BG and got the Deserter debuff. On another occasion I directly got kicked instead of getting an Idle debuff first. I ticketed this and the GM told me that if enough people report you AFK you will get removed from the BG.
if you run into this again, it is worth screenshotting.
More generally, if this is the best blizzard can do to speed up action on bots/afk'ers, it is terrible. Giving players unrestricted ability to grief without apparent recourse is just a recipe for unlimited abuse, some of which is being described in this thread.
I have speculated maybe bots will be programmed to join in the fun reporting random players afk, or reporting top-performers afk.
