a single xfx alphadog 8800gt 2gb or a gtx 460 1gb

my psu is a corsair hx 650w modular


as im thinking of upgrading but if its gonna use more power than my 8800gt i dnt see the point as il be spendingm ore money on my electric the only thing i do graphics card wise is play warcraft thats it

8800 gt (106 watts), 460 GTX (160 watts)Unless your botting 24/7 you wont notice a power bill difference and even then it wouldn't be much. You could run a 590 and not notice much of a power difference if your only paying a few hours a day.

GTX 460 has a TDP of 150 at 768 MB Vram. And 160 TDP at 1GB Vram.

While 8800GT has a TDP of 105.

Those numbers are estimated given by Nvidia so they are not 100% accurate. Because you must also take in asumption that the 8800GT will strugle harder than the 460 in order to reach the same performance.

But if both run at 100%, the 460 will use allot more power.

OP, the 460 use a bit more power, but not much. You shouldn't notice a difference at all.

OK so instead of $2 to $3 extra a month we're talking $4 to $6.... Even then that is a really high estimate. Hell chances are you pay more in hydro by plugging your cell phone in to charge than what the upgraded video card would cost you.

I don't think any of us do, just criticizing a typical 14 hour wow day for him. there's not enough content to keep people interested for 14 hours a day for 'typical' gaming session.
