Okami came out in 2006. I was 13 when it came out, and I've always been a very weak-hearted (read: scaredycat) person. It was my first playthrough, so I had no fucking clue where that laughing was coming from. Being thoroughly creeped out by those dolls, I was like "OH MY FUCK THE DOLLS ARE ALIVE AND THEY'RE LAUGHING AT ME." I had to call my friend to calm me down while I played through the part. And when you approach the doorway and her face takes up your whole screen as she's snapping her jaws? Man, it took all my willpower to not shatter that tube television with my controller. @_@
Have I mentioned I'm terrified of spiders? That probably helps the narrative. :c
Of course, I've had no problem with it in subsequent playthroughs, but I don't think I'll ever forget the first time I heard that banshee screeching in that doorway. Bleh.
