Sad news. Was all happy and pumped when I saw the True Blood finale tonight, but then when I got online, I read that Andy Whitfield had lost his battle with non-Hodgkin Lymphoma at the very early age of 39. (Source)
As a fan of the series, I'm pretty shocked and sad to hear about this, especially when the last I heard, he was on his road to recovery and had nearly beaten it. I'm glad I at least got to see him act in a great role for a great series. I know he couldn't fill the role of Spartacus this season, but I hope is replacement lives up to it. He has big shoes to fill, especially after something like this happens. Thoughts are with his family. RIP

This is very sad, indeed. He was amazing as Spartacus and surely, he'll be missed.

I heard the same thing, that he was on the road to recovery so that when I heard the news he died I was mega shocked! I was looking forward to a potential return to spartacus (even though I know they'd already found a replacement for andy).

Heard that, too. But there's always that chance it will come back, and unfortunately in this case, it did.

My god, that's such a shame. He was a great actor and from what I gathered from interviews and whatnot he was a very nice person too. So sad..

Wow:S This sucks.. he was great in season one and in good shape and that was only a few years ago. I never knew it was that serious.

Saw this earlier too. So sad. This guy was so awesome and really nailed everything with Spartacus. I would have loved to see him in another season. Shame the world is so cruel.. People just keep on dying.. All the time.

Bad series so I didn't follow it at all (meaning I wasn't very familiar with the guy) but it's always very sad when someone dies at such a young age.

Wow he was such a badass in Spartacus it is amazing what cancer can do. It is truly a shame because they were planing another season with him after he overcame his cancer. RIP the one true Spartacus!

Oh, this is terrible. I loved him in Spartacus and was sincerely hoping for his return. I really thought that he would make it when he started coming back and getting well.
