Building a custom comp - is this okay or completely fail?

Hello. I'm going to build a computer for the very first time so I was wondering if you could help me out... My current computer is a bit outdated which makes newer games a bit laggy. Im playing games such as WoW and CoD and tons of other games but mostly those two.
Anyways back to my question. Is this setup fine or completely fail for games such as .. lets say Battlefield 3?

    Motherboard: MSI P67A-GD65 (B3) SATA6 USB3 eSATA CFX SLI
    CPU: Intel Core i5 2300 2.8GHz 6MB Box S1155
    RAM: Corsair DDR3 PC1333 6GB CL9 XMS3 kit (3x2GB)
    Hard drive: Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB 32MB
    Graphics card: Club 3D Radeon PCI-E HD6950 2GB DDR5
    Case: Cooler Master HAF 922
PSU: Corsair GS Series 600W GS600 80+ Gaming Series

and Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

You have Triple Channel RAM chosen, with a system that uses Dual Channel. Also, budget? Makes it far easier for people to help if they know how much you can or are willing to spend, as well as country/currency so they know where to point you.
    EVGA Classified SR-2 | Intel Xeon X5680 x 2 | Corsair Dominator DDR3-1600 6 x 2GB | XFX HD5970 x 2
Intel PRO/1000 PT Server NIC | ASUS Xonar DX | Corsair AX1200 | Corsair TX750
    OCZ Vertex2 60GB | WD Velociraptor 300GB x 2 | Samsung Spinpoint MP4 500GB
    EK-FB SR2 - Acetal+Nickel | EK-Supreme HF - Acetal x 2 | EK-FC5970 Acetal x 2
    Thermochill TA120.4 x 3 | Thermochill TA120.3 | Swiftech MCP655 x 2

Motherboard: MSI P67A-GD65 (B3) SATA6 USB3 eSATA CFX SLI - Not really an expert.
    CPU: Intel Core i5 2300 2.8GHz 6MB Box S1155 - Replace with an i2500k
    RAM: Corsair DDR3 PC1333 6GB CL9 XMS3 kit (3x2GB) - Replace with 2x4GB @ 1600
    Hard drive: Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB 32MB - Spinpoint F3 Would be a bit more cost-efficient here
Graphics card: Club 3D Radeon PCI-E HD6950 2GB DDR5 - That brand is weird, if I were i'd go for another ( Gigabyte, sapphire , asus , MSI, HIS )
Case: Cooler Master HAF 922 Chea - Get a Cooler Master Storm Scout IMO, Although this part is entirely up to your preference.
PSU: Corsair GS Series 600W GS600 80+ Gaming Series - Get an Antec 620, A bit more cost-effective.

and Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
    Did some corrections for you.

You can probably drop the memory to 2x2GiB DDR3-1600 to get rid of that triple channel garbage (which usually costs more for some reason) and save enough to get an i5-2500K. The i5-2300 is pretty low clocked relatively and doesn't overclock more than 4 bins past its stock speed, so if you plan on tweaking the system at all, the 2500K is well worth it.
    Super casual.

    this.

Keller also has some nice suggestions. I'm not good at browsing the euro sites, so...

    cpuIntel i5 2500K – $219.99
    ramCorsar 1600 MHz Vengeance Low-Profile 2X4GB – $57.99
    hdd1Samsung Spinpoint 1TB – $59.99

Sure. All brands work, MSI have better cooling. what's your gaming resolution? if it's 1920x1080 or more you'd best go with something with 2gb.

wrong, a 1GB card works fine until higher than 1080p OR using multiple monitors WITH games on both

Don't look at it as failing, think of it as learning from personal mistakes/experiences, instead of asking and learning from everyone elses :P

HD6950 is better than the 560, and you can make it even better by unlocking the bios to HD6970.

*sigh* I think this has been said at least 100 times on these forums - the newer 6950s have been made so they can't be flashed to a 6970.

The 6950 is also about $50.00 more expensive, which is a ~20% increase in price, and MAYBE a 7.5-10% increase in performance, but I doubt it's even that much.

Don't forget that you'll be wanting the 560 Ti, as it's a stone's throw better than the regular 560. Otherwise, the suggestions above are more than enough to get you set up with a good system. Good luck, and have fun.

I must not have got the memo. I bought my Sapphire6950 about a month ago and it flashed just fine.

You must have gotten lucky. Is there a manufacture date on your card/box?
