Monitor Will Not Work With HDMI?

    Hey everyone,

I have a Palit GTX-285 2GB that has VGA, DVI, and HDMI outputs.

    I have a HANNspree HF237 23" 1080p monitor.

The VGA works just fine, but when I hook the monitor up via HDMI, I cannot get it to work.

Windows 7 sees two monitors. If I go to my display settings, I see two HF237 monitors just like if I had two separate monitors hooked up.

If I use the buttons on the monitor to output to HDMI instead of VGA, then the monitor says "Check cable. No input signal." or something similar and then the monitor goes to standby. If I turn it on and select VGA then it works fine. I have tried playing with the settings in Windows 7 but I haven't gotten anywhere so far.

Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you.

    Correct version of HDMI cable?
Could possibly be a compability issue if its an old screen or old cable o.O

Hmm I bought my PS3 (CECH-2001B) in May 2010 and it came bundled with an HDMI cable, which is the one I am using. So I am assuming that the cable is at least 1.3?

    The monitor is 1.3.

The GTX-285 reference didn't come with HDMI output, but the Palit GTX-285 2GB that I have does have VGA, DVI, and HDMI but I can't find the specs for it.

The PS3 itself is older than 2010 though.

Perhaps the interface shares outputs. Meaning, you could have DVI+HDMI and DVI+VGA, but not HDMI+VGA because they're using the same source. That's usually the crook in these scenarios, but only with DVI+HDMI causing the issues.
