Skyrim: Buying on the console over the pc because...

Since we all seemingly have a PC this is actually more to fill the current reasons why people are getting it on the console over the pc not which they choose. I would assume that even if you aren't running a top tier machine, the loss of the mod development community is a huge loss for better graphics. So that is what the poll is aimed at addressing.

Yeah, that's why I added the "console networking" on the poll. I had a feeling this might be a reason for some.

I'll be getting it for the PS3 because my computer isn't that great and to me, I just like consoles better. That's just my gaming type though. Computers are great but I'm just more used to a console.

I am not getting it for PC because it uses Steam and I am against buying a game in retail and still being forced to use it. I may however pick up a PC copy of it far down the line when I can find a copy of it for dirt cheap just to try it out. I will have to compare which of the console versions I like better so not sure what system yet I will get it for.

Did I miss the part where you can play games offline with steam? Did they change this when I wasn't noticing?

I just mean the fact that I have to deal with Steam at all. I was fine when Steam was only required to act as an online matchmaking service but I dislike the fact that even if I buy a game from a store I am still forced to download Steam to play it even if it does offer an offline mode.

Because with my computer's meh specs, it'd look better on the 360. This is assuming I get it at all, as I've literally no money.

Hit and miss. "Can't please everyone." In my opinion, you should voice that to the companies doing joint ventures with them instead of just picking a different avenue. As it was discussed elsewhere, we're moving closer to the point where everything, console and pc, will be digital so you'd probably better start getting used to these apps.

    That doesn't sound very...logical.

The fact your game gets tied for your account forever is a good point, not a bad one. You keep your DVD in the pretty case and all, yet if your disk is ruined for whatever reason, you go and download the game without any problem.

Last time one of my Xbox 360 disks got destroyed, they said I was out of luck and had to buy another one. For full price.

My computer would probably die as soon as i inserted the game disc...

PC: " you want me to run what!? Are you kidding me...you're not? Screw you!"

So i'll be getting it on 360. It may be because i use the 360 more for gaming but i tend to prefer the controls for games like that. However if Santa grants my wish and i can get a decent desktop i might be tempted to give it a go on the PC and see what it's like.

I got quite lucky with oblivion way back when. I lent it to my brother and it came back scratched and for some reason wouldn't play at all, sent it off saying it wasn't working (it was scratched but should have been fine to run for the most part) and they said they couldn't see a problem and it was working but have another copy.

PC, for the mods. and I just have a hard time getting into a RPG on console. I don't know why, but on PC I get more involved in the game.

I am fine with Steam if it was optional. If you want a digital copy of the game then fine get it from Steam. If you want to get a physical copy of it and also have a back up digital copy then fine download Steam. But if I just want to have the game and play it without Steam at all I feel I should be able to. If i break it its my own fault but I shouldn't be forced to have to download Steam if I don't want to. If they want to force me to use Steam then what is the point of even selling a boxed copy of it for PC?

My system isnt up to it. Getting Oblivion for the PC during the steam sale was one of the best gaming decisions i made. The modding community is amazing, new mods are still being added.
