Link is broken. But I have checked there before, and I remember seeing they were upgrades only. I have never used them before however.

Ah ok, upgrades I take it are only available if you have Windows 7 Standard, Home etc... So that you can upgrade to a "better" version.

It means you can't put it on a fresh machine. You can go from Vista or lower versions of 7, for example (and more), you just can't do a fresh install.

I get everything from microsoft for free .

Officer, any windows version, including enterprise/ultimate, etc.

    PS. Legally.

It's an upgrade edition meaning you can only install it on computers that already have a form of windows on them, also the offer is only available to students with a valid .ac.uk email address.

    So did I, through University.

I don't see what this has to do with the thread though.

Actually the "Upgrade" edition, is to upgrade from Windows XP/Vista.
I bought an Upgrade edition of Ultimate for $60 bucks Australian, and it installs as a full version of windows.
    No scam, no joke.
Microsoft still makes money, hell, that's like 5 times the price of Windows in China still.
Don't kid yourself if you think you're getting an insane bargain.

Universities (At least in england) Can't give out free copies of Office.... Not without breaking any form of ToS etc.... They can give out pretty much every other program available through the MSDN Academic Alliance. (Various versions of Windows client and server editions, Streets and Maps, XNA Studio etc... Office you have to buy yourself though.

    to the OP:

It is legit... I have used Software4Students to get my copy of Office2010. But yes... do watch out for the differences between the Full version and the Upgrade version.

P.S. You DO NEED a valid student email address typically ending .ac.uk or .edu
