I've used Avast! for years, almost always gets the job done. I also like the boot-time scan, great at getting those hard to get files.

MSE is, surprisingly, not that bad at all, and is fully integrated into the Windows security center.

Avast. Also, don't ever use McAfee again. It's one of the worse AV's In the market.

Just do not, ever, install the Norton 3 month trial you got with your new computer. It is a right pain in the ass to get shut of completely and uses what seems to be about 90% of your computer's thinking power when scanning (its resource usage also seems to scale with your computer's parts).
