    Near Death Experience

Today was the first day I almost suffered a heart attack from a videogame.

I really regret this purchase, and I never want to hear from this game again..

Today, I was browsing PSN for downloadable games, because PSN has so many good classic games. So I came across a dlc game called Siren: Blood Curse, and noticed it was episodic so you can buy the whole game for 40 bucks or buy them separately if you don't have enough money. I didn't know what to expect, so I just bought Episode 1 rather cheap and what I got was probably the most fatal experience I had with a ''game'' if thats what you call this monstrosity.

So the game opens up with the scariest intro I have ever seen in my life, like jesus christ it's like something pulled out of Ju-on or Shutter. No kidding, this is actually the intro and I can't get that god forsaken singing out of my head.

So I mean, if a game is trying to be scary like Resident Evil, that's fine if the gameplay is good. But no, this game does not have any gameplay. When the scary as hell opening ended and I got through a shaky prologue the gameplay starts. Some freakish zombie cop called a Shibito comes by and starts chasing me with a gun while he's twitching like fricking Kayako from Ju-on, ok so I'd figure I can just fight him right? BUT THERE ARE NO WEAPONS to fight him, so he almost killed my character (and made me sweat irl), and I run to this house that also looks like something from Ju-on and find I'm able to hide in a closet. When I hide in this closet, I feel even more nervous because what I see through the creek is a bloody corpse of a woman smudged onto the wall. Eventually, that cop comes into the house and he's searching. First time, he leaves, and I am so relieved. I figure if I stay in this closet the game will advance. But no, he comes back and scares me even more, and this time..he pulled me out of the closet. This is where I almost got my cardiac arrest, and dropped the controller and had to go get pills to help my heart.

After that, I just stopped playing the game. I couldn't do it, this isn't a game its some kind of terror simulator out to kill those suffering weak bodies irl. Please understand I am not trolling, and if you can beat this game, show or tell me because I can't. It's the scariest thing I have seen for a game in my life.

Those games aren't for the meek, just stop playing them if they are a danger to your health.

That's the scariest intro you've seen? Looked pretty standard to me. Zombies, Americans, one kills the other.

Haha. Not too strong of heart are we

Looks like Silent Hill with some mechanics from Amnesia. You should stay away from these two games, too.

Maybe Dead Space horror style (much similar to Resident Evil) would be better for you? That is, if you still want some horror game.

I was thinking the same thing. Amnesia is pretty much the peak of "scary" gaming, although it made me more mad getting killed after the fact.

But you see, Silent Hill wasn't so scary because there's alot of guns and tons of melee weapons to kill your enemies. And they're always plentiful. I couldn't find any way to defeat that cop there..there was no fighting.

Near-death experience....from a video game, that must have been quite a moment.

OT: sounds like Amnesia, just more modern times. Reaction videos are HIGH-LARIOUS though.

Amnesia almost gave me heart attack too. I was playing in a dimmed light and with head phones as the intro suggested. Pro tip: DON'T DO THAT...

After seeing a man being decapitated by a chain saw and another having his head sawed off by a knife I'm pretty much immune to all gore and horror genre materials. That trailer was kid stuff.

Lmao, Dead Space would make him HAVE a heart attack.

if that scares you, I'd stay the hell away from amnesia: the dark descent.

playthroughs with a sarcastic british chap are enough to give me a heart attack, though it doesn't help even the most sturdy minded let's-players crap their pants during their videos and you can hear their voice quiver when they're trying to be reassuringly funny.

It's a sad world when "Survival horror" has turned into such a parody of what it should be so that when there are true survival horror games out there people don't want to play them because they get to scared.

And now I need to get my hands on these games...

To be fair, Dead Space has scary moments that make you jump. But you have ways to defend yourself, much like Resident Evil (which the OP seems to bear with). Amnesia, Silent Hill, Clock Tower and Project Zero have a different kind of horror, they don't make you jump so often but they keep you scared through the whole game.

Well, everyone has their opinions, but no video game is "scary". If you are that scared of a video game, i could only imagine you in real life. Lol, the only thing a video game can do, imo, is make you jump, like you said, and Dead Space takes the #1 spot for that.

Excuse me but that's bullshit. Making you jump is the lamest kind of horror, and the easiest one, too (you just need a sudden image and/or sound). Creating a full atmosphere that keeps you aware is, however, much harder to accomplish. And you seem to be a cool guy who isn't afraid of anything.

Personally i find THIS music FAR scarier than what you gave us. Not BTW that i said than what he gave us not saying it's the scariest music ever or even close.

EDIT found the TV opening version a fair amount creepier when it starts at least.
