    Rage

    So what do you think?

Share all ideas, what's good and what's bad?

Lets all share what we like about this Post-Apocalyptic Shooter

I like the game, but there's a little too much I don't like about it too. Dealing with the constant texture loading (even after the .cfg fix) can be annoying, and the driving is definitely nowhere near realistic, regardless of the fact that it's in the ~2150 era, vehicles can't possibly be that advanced, especially after an apocalypse

    ATI or Nvidia Card?

I found just updating my Radeon HD 6850 driver to the RAGE one sorted it out straight away.

its to damn short, just as the story line pace picks up.. boom the end.
And then they make you sit through the end credits, its a frikkin console port. In itself its a good game, but just like with crysis 2, it suffers from consoleitis. forcing us to adjust visual settings through a cfg fix, even the damn mouse smoothing has to be removed with a console command.

Which is a damn shame, pc gaming made them the company they are today. but just like all other developers, they rather dumb down their games to make them compattible with the failstation and the derpbox.

first DA2 then crysis, now this game.. seriously getting miffed with it, if BF 3 even hints of consolitis, im done with properly buying their games. il just get cd keys off the black market.

oh and another gripe, is buying games online, and then seeing different release dates all over the world, whats the %^&*() point.

Hmm... yeah I noticed that too a bit, too many console children ruining it for us PC gamers, lets just hope BF3 lives up to the hype. However the graphics of RAGE are just stunning I think.

So because video games developers are making games that can be enjoyed by people sitting on a sofa, that makes the people playing the game "children"?

I was really exicted about it because I've loved everything id has done.

Then I found out it's a console port, and a mediocre one at that, which pissed me off since I hate console ports because they generally suck. And it is having massive issues with driver compatibility for video cards which is another fail : /

There are TONS of pictures showing how even with this brand new engine and all, the game still looks VERY old in a lot of ways. There was a great comparison shot between the wall textures in Doom 3 (4 years old) and Rage, with Rages wall textures looking WORSE than Doom 3's. And then there's this picture...

Yeah, don't bother waiting for it to render in, that's what it looks like in game : /

This is why I don't like terrible console ports. In order to get the game to run on the console and look good, they have to cut SO many freaking corners, which makes the game look like trash when it's ported over the to PC : /

I just finished it myself. Took 14 hours and I did every job board posting, all quests from NPCs, got all the sentry bot jumps, got perfects in all of the races, and explored as much as I felt I needed to.

I really enjoyed the FPS part of it. I thought the guns were nice and varied, the AI was pretty smart (annoying sometimes), and the few boss battles they had were cool. I HATED the driving. HATED HATED HATED the rocket and pulse rallies so bad I almost rage uninstalled the game at one point.

Anyway, I found a secret room with the dev's signatures and an id sculpture thing in the distillery and then I found a secret Doom room in the Gearhead place (I think it was here) so those were pretty cool Easter eggs.

Overall, I would give it an 8. If the driving was limited only to getting you from point A to point B like Borderlands and didn't make it a huge aspect of the side-quests (and some main quests) and if the game was longer, I would've given it a 9.5 easily.

Edit: And I agree with the mod above me. The textures are TRASH ugly. The guns and characters look phenomenal and some environments look really good at a distance, but up close, the small objects and some walls with details are just garbage graphically and I'm running 2 GTX580's.

Doom 3 is actually 7 years old, it was released in August 2004 :P

The game is way too short. I mean I finished it on about 10 hours doing the main quest line and 4-5 races cause got bored of them. The story is pretty simple too. Guns and fights are decent. The engine is a bit sucky, had some very unusual moment where f.e. i shot a corpse in the ass and it jumped up really high lol. When I finished the last lvl of the game and saw the credits I was like "What?". Not really worth the money so I hope someone buys it from me :P.

QFT, the driving doesn't even make sense. It's like I'm playing Super Mario Kart or something being able to instantaneously stop on a dirt track while going what appears to be around 80 mph. And ya, I found the character models and animations incredible, but directly behind most of them were HORRID looking textures. I will say though that the rock formations look awesome.

Um, Reality to you.. Console gaming is a MUCH MUCH MUCH bigger market than PC gaming, these companies are out there to make money, not make a small group happy. I am sorry you cant realistically grasp the concept of business.

I you are going to be rude and condescending in your posts, please avoid posting. Or write out the post, but don't hit the post button if that makes you feel better. - Edge

Wow, that's even more depressing. Oh well, I can go back and play Doom 3 again, it's still a spectacular game.

Why should I edit? The majority of PC gamers sit in chairs, next to a desk. I personally find it uncomfortable sitting in a chair for an extended period of time which is why console gaming more relaxing.

I think it is pretty clear that he gets it, but doesn't like it. Very few PC gamers enjoy getting mediocre console ports that have been scaled down and have loose controls.

I must say, I was really looking forward to RAGE, and I was under the impression that the Co-op would be the story mode run.
That disappointed me a bit, having paid for a game and then it isn't even fixed (with the gfx) stuff like that.
Haven't enjoyed the driving so far.
Must say ofc that I haven't completed it yet.
But overall I was expecting a lot more, but ofc I need to finish it before saying too much, but reading how short people are saying it is, the end can't be far away.
One thing though I must compliment them on is the AI on the badguys, it's really good at most times, and can prove challenging.

i was really enjoying it but the end was almost as crappy as the ending to borderlands and fallout3 funny how that works..
