What is Wowshell?

As per title. It popped up on my spamalyzer while i was in a pug raid and spammed me with ALOT of data. Made me curious what it actually does. My google search came up with chinese pages only, which i cant read

Not sure why you are being spammed, but as far as an addon goes I did find the following indicating its an addon to automate certain annoyances or tedious tasks in the default UI such as selling junk, hiding keybind text etc.
This description does date back from 2008, so not sure how accurate that is now but is at least in english.

Hmm, looks like a massive "can do it all" addon and i suspect it has some gear scanning function in it. Can't think of any other reason why else it would communicate so much. Onto my banned list it goes!

Gear scanning alone will not spam you like that, instead the addon trying to communicate something with what it assumes to be other users of the addon.
Some do that with everyone on a friends list, or in a party/raid without first sending just a single message to get some reply or acknowledgement from the addon the other user may have.
It is my understanding that unless something is processing that information, then it should have no effect.

It can lag out raid members if it gets excessive (Gearscore did that) - all addon message data has to be transmit to all clients in the raid.
