Can I heal HC's? -Resto Shammy-

    Heya,

I wanted to ask you nice peeps a question : Is my gear good enough to heal HC's?

I already healed 2, but in my last one, a DK made a comment on my low mana, so i'm not sure if i can heal them actually.

Here is my armory : http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/characte.../shuaza/simple

    Ty!

You are entirely unenchanted, do not have your mail specialization bonus, and aren't completely glyphed.
Your mana is really low, too.
I'd say you aren't ready for heroics.

Barely. Get enchants, gem properly, and fix your spec/glyphs and you'll be fine. There are plenty of guides for that info.

@ Dakoth, my spec seems fine? I'll check the sticky's tough.

You're more than ready for heroics. The dk was just making up excuses to not look bad.
Mind you, if this is your first time learning the heroics, it's going to be hard and a few of the cheaper enchants might help somewhat. But as far as unenchanted stats, you're fine.

This is especially true for resto shammies since you've got the amazingly powerful mana tide totem.

That gear seems good enough for heroics, but try to look at the advices here: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/characte...huaza/advanced

Using leather gloves means you lose 5% intellect, and you haven't enchanted anything. At least grab shoulder/head enchant (from Therazane/Guardians of Hyjal respectively) and try to get exalted with Earthen Ring asap for the boots they provide. The harder heroics like DM/SFK may be a bit challenging, so consider specific queues or get a premade group that can compensate a bit for your starter gear. PUGs may be too unpatient I'm afraid.

I wouldn't go a day without Ancestral Swiftness, but I guess it's fine if you're just doing 5mans.

WHOA, should i have enchants and proper gems to do hc, (dk dps, but new threads are more spam), quick answer to not thread-hijack, all my gems are fat +hit, and my enchants are tailoring (carpets FTW), does it matter?

If you run with guildies, you might be able to heal heroics if they are more or less perfect.

But looking at your gear, you are not ready yet. You will struggle a lot with mana as your mana pool is very low, and you really shouldnt use anything but mail armor.

I would run some more normals, get some more rep gear and maybe also get some crafted epics before I think you would feel comfortable healing heroics.

    Good luck

    Yay, someone positive

Yeah, however from the 3 HC's i healed so far, i had 2 GB's and i heard that's kinda difficult to heal so maybe the dk was just a bit worried or something.

Ty for all the replies tough, i'm off now.

Gee, maybe get that banana out your ass, before you start bitching on public forums?

As above posters mentioned. enchants/gems. Go for Intellect and spirit untill you feel you can take on any heroic without having to stress yourself to the limit.

Another thing: every item you have, reforge Mastery into Intellect>Spirit>Crit>Haste. In that order. Focus on Intellect and Spirit. Will give you a nice mana pool, spell power + crit and good mana regen.

Also, do dailies and such, so you get your reputation to exhalted with Therazane for epic shoulder enchants (50 intellect + 25 haste), epic neck from Wildhammer Clan and epic resto boots from Earthen Ring. Also, if you can afford it, get a blacksmith to make you the epic spell caster shield (elementium stormshield).¨

And start out with normals. You might get a few upgrades + get comfortable with your healing and learning how to use the different heals correctly for each situation.
You might run out of mana on some trash pulls and boss fights, but if you can keep enough mana to keep people alive during combat, then you are fine to start with. The rest comes with time and practice

None of this rep grind, enchanting and gemming is actually needed for running heroics. And you can still wipe even with your gear optimized. I'd spend more time learning the mechanics in the heroics and less time doing the normal dungeons.

Might not be needed, but it will help. People are trying to give the OP some advice, and "getting better gear, gems, enchants" is good advice

    1. Talents
Lose "Focused Insight" and get "Totemic Focus 2/2" and "Ancestral Swiftness 2/2".

    2. Glyphs
Swap "Glyph of Flametongue Weapon" for "Glyph of Riptide". You should be using Earthliving Weapon and not Flametongue.
Get the "Glyph of Renewed Life" and "Glyph of Astral Recall", the later is not really of benefit in a dungeon but you'll be glad you picked it up.

    3. Gear
Get rid of any item that is not mail: Chest, belt, gloves. You're already exalted with Guardians of Hyjal, grab the head enchant and swap your tabard to Earthen ring (Epic boots).

    4. Enchants / Gems
Enchant your gear, go for spirit, intelect, mastery.
Get a belt buckle when you get a proper belt. Gem your gear. You'll want purple (20int/20spi) gems on red sockets, blue (40spi) gems on blue sockets, orange (20int/20crit) gems on yellow sockets.

If you've already healed 3 then you obviously *can* do them. As others have pointed out the gear will only make things run smoother and mistakes by your party easier to overcome. Learning the fights is a great idea too but really everyone should do that anyways.

Enchanting is pretty cheap right now, you can find people leveling their skill that won't ask for a tip or sometimes will tip you. For 333 gear that you aren't aiming to replace "right away" with your next rep/JP item then the lower tier enchants are very reasonable and make a huge difference, especially things like 30 int to cloak. 346 items are going to take you into raids unless there's a rep/crafted/boe replacement you plan to get you should use end game enchants (except maelstrom crystal ones) and blue quality gems.

There's no reason not to have a gem in your relic and you really should have picked up the 20 int socket bonus on your chest. I wouldn't bother fixing the chest, you really want to go with all mail pve items.

Bottom line is that just because its possible to do heroics doesn't mean you should. If you plan to grind out all the reps theres no point pushing to do heroics early and being subject to all the pain when you could be farming regular 85 dungeons for rep and when you're 100% ilvl 333+ pve maill you can do some easy heroics to round out your gear set and cap that last bit of rep. As a healer you will take a lot of the blame when groups go badly and when people see unenchanted, ungemmed, pvp gear, cloth etc. it can get you booted from the group even if it wasn't your fault.
