How to...transfer UI

So I recently made some premade characters on the PTR and was wondering if there is a way to "transfer" your UI from your character to that character without having to remake it.

Copy WTF and Interface. Get some program that offers a "replace in files" feature (I recommend Notepad++). Replace all occurrences of "Realcharacter - Real Realm" with "PTRCharacter - PTR Realm" inside the entire WTF folder. Rename the Old Realm\Old Character folder (in WTF\Account\ACCNAME) to PTR Realm\PTR Character.

Some while ago I was thinking about writing a tool to automize such... which would go through the WTF and look for all strings containing the name of your server and exchanging it against the new target character+server... but never came around to write it (and remove all other characters from the list). Did anyone ever do something like that?

I tried this, it worked but I still had to manually go in and reposition, configure the addons. Heh. It at least worked to get the barebones UI,macros, bars etc over though.

Is your work available anywhere, even if the program is unfinished ?
