    Min Specs for Ultra +

So I was going through the forums, and although I run everything on Fair or Good with about 30fps, I was just wondering what everyone thinks would be the minimum specs a computer would require to run WoW on Ultra still with good (40-60)fps?

I am thinking about rebuilding my desktop and could use some ideas for what to aim for should I decide to do so.

any computer for 500 euro will do, I got a computer 1½ year ago and I have about 120 fps avg

I think, but I'm not sure, Nvidia / intel is better with wow, that is a fact in my circles, but could be just bad luck with amd / ati

While my components handle everything ultra at ~60fps, I usually turn down shadows anyway. Just in case. I notice no visual difference between "Good" and "ultra" shadows regardless.
I don't recommend building a system like this, though.

    What's your resolution like?
I'd suggest, like in the other thread
    i5-2500K
    Gigabyte Z68 ud3
    4GiB 1333MHz 1.5v RAM
    GTX460 or HD6850 or HD5770.
    400~w PSU
    500GB Samsung Spinpoint F3
    Random case.
Consider an aftermarket CPU-cooler if you want to overclock, further increasing chances of higher FPS.
If you have a lower resolution, consider an i3-2100 and a HD5770.

What kind of resolution do play at? Is Ultra everything on ultra or is it ok if shadows are medium?

    What resolution? 800x600?

This is wrong. AMD/ATi does not inherently suffer at wow, it just happens to be that AMD have no competetive CPUs on the market atm.

No issue here with my AMD Radeon HD 6970.

Onto the OP's question... I'd definitely opt for an Intel CPU since it has been shown that they do perform better in WoW simply because of the improved Clock for Clock performance and such. The GPU however I would recommend doing based on your budget but don't skimp too much on it. You also don't need an absolutely high end GPU since WoW is more dependent on the CPU than anything.

1920x1080 my computer is like a computer that cost 500 euro today, slightly better perhaps, but he was asking for 40-60 fps

    as said, in my circles

    40-60 FPS at ultra+ yes.
Tell your circle to stop paying attention to TomsHardware, then.

    Here are my system specs:

    Intel i7 2600K
    ASUS P8P67 PRO
    8GB Corsair Vengeance RAM
    120GB Intel X-25M SSD (OS & WoW)
640GB WD Black SATA (all other games/data)
    2x ATi 6870s in Crossfire
    24" Dell 2407WFP at 1920x1200
    19" Sony at 1280x1024

I run WoW at Ultra settings, everything cranked up, in windowed full screen mode. I didn't see any appreciable performance increase in WoW when I added the second 6870.

How is Crossfire working in Windowed mode O.o.. Last I knew AMD hadn't fixed that.

Might consider to stop running windowed, so that things can actually benefit from your crossfire. Just sayin.

dont use tomshardware as I'm swedish, and we found out from ppl who had more expensive components with less FPS

and if my computer that is old have 120 fps avg on ultra in 1920x1080 I think a computer with todays cheap equipment will go above 40

You're from Sweden, so I automatically donot trust you. I still doubt you can pull off an average 120FPS with shadows and everything else in ultra, at 1080p with a year-and-a-half old equipment.
Since it's 1.5years or older - it means you cannot have an i7-980x, and thus isn't sitting on a powerhouse by todays standards.
So you most likely have a Lynnfield or a Bloomfield overclocked to 4.5 GHz, and that seems unlikely.

    I'm calling liar.

to bad fraps cap fps at 30, else It would be provable

Film your screen with a handheld camera, with the fraps-counter.
Or list your speccs which would've been the more sensible reaction.

I'm running a i7 2600k @ 4.7 ghz, a gtx 580 and 8 gb 1600 ram and I only manage around 75 fps in Stormwind running absolute full ultra. I don't see your pc running at 120 fps average being even plausible.

if you want to load models faster you need an ssd, I get no frame drops in major towns

SSDs relation to frames past initial load = null.

I run an SSD in both my computer and laptop, and I reckon my computer is at worst comparable to yours, most likely better. 120FPS average is bull, and because of your insistence on just avoiding the subjects at hand (and providing misinformation) I'm going to call 'troll' and ignore further arguments.
