    Need help finding a game!

    Ok forum, here's the deal.

My girlfriend and I have this thing where we pick a game every week and we play it together for a week. It's my turn to pick the game this week, but I'm stumped and I have no idea what to pick! I need your help forum, which game should I pick?

    Here are the rules.

-Any game as long as we can enjoy the game together. It can be single player as long as there is a good method to take turns, but 2 player games are generally the best.

-Cannot be a flash game/browser game. It has to be part of a downloaded client or on a video game system.

-CANNOT BE FARMVILLE! (this was my rule lol)

Currently we own every system from the PS1/Xbox era back to commodore (hurray emulators) We also own a Wii. Anything exclusively for Xbox 360 and PS3 we can't play. We also can't do MMOs that aren't F2P. If they have downloadable client with a free week, they're fair game.

That's it, suggest away forum. I've seen some of your comments and I know some of you know of great hidden gems out there and I need ideas!

Try Eden Eternal, it is fun until about mid 30's, then it gets very grindy.

Golden Eye if you have N64
I suggest Donkey Kong Country Returns or New Super Mario Brothers for 2 player games, that or you can never really go wrong with Mario Kart, for any system. I personally liked Double Dash best. Oh yeah, Super Smash Brothers, too.

You say that, but I've actually lost quite a few friends due to that game.

    Blue shells.

If you have a gamecube, Tales of Symphonia is pretty fun, co-op through the main story too.

Fuck blue shells, I lost a $25 gift card because of blue shells.

Speaking of which, if haven't played any of the Super Smash Bros. games, those are really fun. You could take turns doing missions in the single player

How about Team Fortress 2? It is now free to play and is incredibly fun if you are playing with a friend. I just got it about a week or so ago and I've played it quite a bit. The only bad thing is that to have a friends list on Steam you have to have a game that was bought, so if this does sound like something you want to try there are plenty of games that cost about $1-3 you can buy so you can group up easier.

I wouldn't recommend playing at all. The high level community is trash (assholes and arrogant noobs that cause you to lose), and it bleeds down into the low level community as the high level players make smurf accounts (new accounts to destroy newer players). My brother has 3-4 smurf accounts that he plays when his primary account gets banned and he's just as abusive to his teammates as usual. It's not fun for the new players to be against somebody who has a lot of knowledge about the game either.

Thats why me and my friend play together in Double Dash, well, okay I lie, that and the fact I suck at driving, especially on Rainbow Road.

I liked playing Kirby's Avalanche for the SNES as a kid with my sister. Very fun!

Maybe the Older Diablo games? Diablo 1 and 2 are great to go back to, you can also brush up on your lore/storyline for the upcoming D3 beta.

I loved E.V.O. Search for Eden for the SNES as well, it's one player but my sister and I would take turns doing levels.

Risk the boardgame is always a blast!

Aerobiz for the SNES is a fun airport sim. Very unique.

Abes Odd World played this with my sister as well, turn the lights out and freak yourself out when your coworkers blow up.

Co-op games my BF and I have played, in order of enjoyment:

    Portal 2
    Resident Evil 5
    Left 4 Dead (1 + 2) - Ideally played with 4, the AI is a bit stupid.
Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light
Magicka - Fun, but the online play still crashes a bit.
    Borderlands
    Diablo 2
Team Fortress 2 - Have to play with randoms, so we're not really playing "together".

Speaking of board games, there are a lot better ones than monopoly. If you are ever interested look for Last Night on Earth, Small World, Pandemic, Agricola.. That should be enough for now. There are a lot of board games meant for 2 players. www.boardgamegeek.com is a good website dedicated to board games.
