Checking Temp out, is this alright?

well i downloaded CPUID Hardware Monitor and started it up for fun, and i read the temps as follows.

    Thrm 40C
    CPU 44C
    MB 51C
    TMPIN 0 35C
    TMPIN 2 40C

This so far seems ok for me (Crosshair MB, AMD Athlon 64 x2 5200+ cpu.

But when i check my graphic card, i start to think something aint right.

77C hot while only browsing the web. Card is a Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS, is this normal?
Shall check out gamin temp in a little while, updating this then.

(ps, gona buy new comp later this year, but untill then....)

(ps2 i clean my comp regulary from dust.)

Older Nvidia cards get really hot. I think 77 is pretty high for just browsing the web, but that can depend on your cooling in your case and if the gpu fan is actually going full speed. My 9600GT sits at 50 idle, probably around 75-80 under load.

Edit, a couple of min later it says 90C and 90% fan

Yeah, that seems pretty high, especially for just WoW.

It should NOT be in the late 70s while just on a website, sounds like something is fucked with your fans. 80 is a bit high for gaming but nothing to seriously worry about, once you get into the 90s though you're risking damaging your GPU (and your entire computer, for that matter).

Seems reasonable. My GPU idles at 50, and my cores right now are 29-31. I would worry more about your load temps than idle ones though.

It also depends on the ambient temp in your room, in the winter my cards idle between 45-50 and in the summer they idle at 75-80. They go up to 90ish when I am doing anything but normally don't go much higher

Wow that's hot for my tastes :P I'd hate to have all that heat dumping out in the summer lol

I'm in that same boat. I need to consider running cable down to my basement today, I'm sure my pc would idle at 20C down there. >_>

Yeah, for 10 minutes. Try a bit longer, if it stays there you should be fine. Mine on load usually gets around there. The single slot cards are notoriously hot.
