Do anke/wrist weights help (even if a little?)

2 years ago I bought a set of ankle/wrist weights. 1,5kg each. I used them for some days but then left them alone, so wasted money. Today I found them again and I am wearing them around my ankles now (2x1,5kg)

Do they actually help when you do cardio etc? I assume they do...

If you, like me, are a very skinny person, they work wonders. I had four weightbands (.5kg/each), and wore them on both wrists and ankles. Just put them on and go through your normal day, and you'll notice a positive difference within two months. If you have SOME muscles, however, I suggest you go to a regular gym =P

By the way: Jogging with weightbands is INCREDIBLY fun for the first minute. Then it becomes training
If you add me on Steam, Skype or whatever program/client I share my info for, please write something to identify you in the "Dude/gal wants to join your club"-message. Just so I know that an actual human is on the other end :P

yeah they actually help a lot

Yes they do help, they provide resistance greater than what your body is used to therefore causing your body to work harder to keep up.

ie; I am a professional drummer, when I practice at home or go to rehearsals, I always use ankle weights to help build for pedal speed and control. When I do my daily run, I use ankle weights every other day on my 2 mile run and no weight when I do my 4 miles twice a week.

I heard they were actually bad for you, but I'm no expert... I'd do some research before you go nuts with them.

They're only bad if you tighten them too much and choke the blood flow, otherwise they can help but they're not a must have. Most people just run holding on to a pair of barbel weights, which ends up doing the same effect.

Will this work the same way as when Rock Lee removes his leg weights to fight Gara?

I sold out 4 years ago, when I sold to Major League Gaming. And I think you're a troll.

I plan to wear 1,5kg each day on each of my legs all day. Will that make a difference?

Define your goals. What are you trying to accomplish?

1.5k leg weights aren't going to cause muscular hypertrophy (leads to muscle growth). Think about how much weight your legs carry around on a daily basis when you walk. I'm average weight for my height at about 80kg. 1.5kg is a 1.8% increase to my body weight. Your legs need a lot more stimulus if you hope to gain any muscle and that's where weight training comes in. It's also why you'll see no gains among those soccer moms who put 5 lbs on the machine leg press and expect a miracle of toning.

You would also have more weight loss success by dropping 3-500 calories a day. Would leg weights help you burn more calories? Maybe, but I doubt it would be on a noticable level.

So basicly those ankle weights are useless for me now?

The best thing you could get out of them is if you're doing like... a plyo workout (jump training). It will have next to no benefit if you're walking. Running, maybe, after some distance, but you won't see a huge impact.

It could really push you if you put those on your wrists while doing some sort of boxing routine, though.

Go with a weight vest. Ankle weights could potentially damage your joints.
