What am I doing wrong, Ret question

    Here is my character:

I'm just starting to get back into Ret after being holy for most of Cata. I know my gear isn't enchanted and I'm still wearing a couple 346 pieces, but I can't break 11k dps on the heroic training dummy. I have the priorities down for all the spells and everything. Should I even be doing more than that with the gear I have?

I was doing 14k on dummys with my 4.0 gear, but on real raids I was doing around 20k, in dummy you lack a lot of buffs that will improve your output.

It's ok bro, never trust a dummy.

You can reforge some exp, 29 glyphed is much more than you need. And go hit cap, to 8%

The only real good a dummy test can do is show that you've improved. You run a test on the dummy, equip new gear/change talents/swap glyphs/etc. then do another test (using the same starting conditions, buffs, and duration), to see if anything changed. Usually that will mean that your raid DPS will increase as well (in a Patchwerk style fight, anyways, they don't have test dummies that run around all crazy like).

Alot of ret's damage comes from the big burst phase, so without raid buffs and heroism you won't get a good sense of how your dmg compares to other classes from a dummy. Ret dmg is very dependent on fight length in a raid setting so target dummy testing over large periods of time can't give you a very good sense of anything with the class.

reforge more for mastery get closer to hit and expertise cap as you're a little above, if you say you know youre rotation and priorities practice keeping 100% uptime on inquisition. keep in mind good times to pop cooldowns so you get 100% dps time out of it from the start of the fight to the finish. make sure you abuse landslide procs (I.E. slam TVs and exos when they proc during a landslide proc) take time to properly gem, reforge, and enchant your gear and it will take you a long way. i started off this t12 in the blues i got in december and now im 7/7 HM because of taking care of the gear I had while doing these things.

Got some more gear and enchanted it, and I've been doing 20k+ in troll heroics. Still, pretty craptastic DPS on the training dummy, but I guess that doesn't really matter that much. Thanks for the tips.
