    Need help Streaming/frapsing!

    So i am looking to start streaming and frapsing, but i have a few questions;

    What dictates the quality of a stream/fraps Internet speed or Graphics card/PC?

    How can i make it so people Hear me and Skype at the same time?

    I get lag when streaming/Frapsing at the moment is that caused by Internet or FPS?

    Thanks in advance guys

    Both, system specs and internet speed matters. Also, your hard drive setup is very important.

    Ideally, you want to have the game you're playing on one HDD and the Fraps destination folder on another HDD. This way you are using one HDD for writing and the other one for reading which will help the bandwith, makes sense? If you have 2 HDD's like this, you should experience little to no actual FPS drop compared to your usual game play experience without Fraps on.

    Internet speed, specifically the upload speed is the thing that matters when you are streaming. There's a fine line at which point you can flawlessly stream 720p video without stuttering and the point when it starts to lag. Generally, bare minimum would be like 500kbps and going up if you want better quality. Don't use as a set in stone numbers but rather, rough guideline.

    And finally, it obviously matters what kind of pc setup you have. If you can play the game without lag when not streaming or frapsing, it should be an indicator that you should be able to flawlessly fraps and stream with good enough HDD's and Upload speed.

    Portable HDD could be enough but it most likely wouldn't. It's about the speed of the drive and how it's connected to your PC. Old usb 2.0 external would most likely be too slow. If you have one laying around, give it a try, though. Anyway, your best option would be 5400 or 7200rpm internal HDD.

    Frap would be optimal w/ 2 HDD;s 7200rpm or higher.

    Streaming needs a solid upload speed from your isp to be optimal.

    Both will impact your FPS in game fraps a bit more than streaming.

    For the best performance whilst frapsing now I'd recommend one of the newer SATAIII drives.

    And for streaming a decent PC with a decent (5mb/s+) upload, that doesn't have throttling.

    I have a similar question, so I'll post it here to. I will be frapsing raids pretty soon, and I'm wondering on what my secondary drive would be. I was going to just fraps to my main drive, and then move it to a second, lower performance drive. After reading this, would it just be better for me to get another Caviar Black drive to save to rather than a larger lower performance drive? Could I get a fairly small Caviar Blue(500GB) and then a larger 2-3TB drive aswell to store the videos later?

    Well that 500g will fill up really fast if your frapsing an entire raid (4ish hours) Id flop it and have your main stuff on the 500g and the 1-2tb drive with the videos. Like each video clip I was filming was like 10g for a minute or a lil more.

    Well, I was messing around with fraps, and using some of the sizes that I was getting for the time, I figured that a raid would only be ~200GB for me when in raw format. using vegas, a fully rendered clip was 52GB for 6 minutes or so, which isn't too far off from the length of a fight. I will be recording at 1920x1080 @30fps for a 3 hour raid(perhaps less for the trash).
