I have a feeling I'm gonna like this topic. I love drone and dark ambient (noise notsomuch) but really don't know that many bands from these genres.
Linked this somewhere else before, my favourite drone/doom song pretty much, although it is not purely drone (has rhythm and percussion which is unusual for the genre)
Mandatory drone band:
Fenriz' dark ambient side project:
Moarrrr dark ambient:
Also this is a band with a bit different take on drone/doom
Verwüstung
It is not primarily drone/doom but more like a sort of experimental/atmospheric black metal with a very minimalist atmosphere and some drone elements (earlier materials also have a shoegazy wibe but not this freely downloadable album), however I'd say the minimalist approach definitely makes them fit in this topic.
I really like Lustmord, been some time since I last listened to his stuff.
Here's a masterpiece:

Some Drone:
Dark ambient:
And slightly different taste, but suits the thread regardless, I'd think:
Nice clips!
And about Bohren, I'm a BIIIIIIIIG fan of them.
Also something that suits the theme:
Burial Chamber Trio sounds really awesome!

The King of Ambient / Drone
Adding more:
I love putting this one on late night in bed. Pure nightmare material.
Same goes for this one. It reminds me of playing Bioshock actually.
This is just a masterpiece. It's obligatory to link it here.

Want to keep this thread alive as long as possible.
Not pure noise, but pretty intense. Turn up your speakers.
Full song is about 30 minutes, a very interesting trip . There's rumors they have been using mental hospital patients for the vocals.
And some good Whitehouse
Let's not forget Mikko Aspa
I don't really like Stalaggh. I think the story's pretty contrived and personally I think other bands do what they do better (see: Mories).
Amusingly enough I recently got reminded of them. Apparently they quit, but saw a letter sent to tv mag somewhere where a 16-year wrote into say how extreme and mentally damaging Stalagg is. Meh.

Not sure whether to post the following in the Metal thread or this one, but since we're here anyway...
Not really ambient, more medieval darkwave.
Hehe, Halo Manash
Well that was an interesting trip.
