Thread: Hunter or Mage?

    Hunter or Mage?

What do you think i should level up to 85? Im guessing I will be Pvping the most. But can't really decide whitch to play seriously. Both look amazing, And very very fun. So its abit hard for me to decide really..

I would be doing mostly 2v2 and RBG's. Nothing more.

Guess that i would be playing on Argent Dawn EU, casue I like to RP as well.

    Thoughts?

hunter has an extremely high skillcap, and even then a lot of them still suck. Mage is pretty hard to fail with. Plus mage abilities are really fun.

    For PvE, Mage

    For PvP, Mage

    For awesomeness, Hunter

Mage. It feels very epic to play, plus they hit pretty hard.

Warlock, both a dark mage and has pets like a hunter dose.

But if you do not like that I would say Hunter as its my main....I even have two hunters. One is a Blood Elf and the 2nd a Goblin. I did that so i can play all 3 specs.

If you like ice Frost Mages get a Water Elemental pet.

Depends on your play style. The two are very different other than being ranged classes. As stated, hunters have a very high skill cap (in pvp) but they are quite fun. kiting, trapping, ccing, high dmg... Mages are always going to be very high dmg as well. Personally I'd prefer a hunter because of what they can do. Granted those and DKs have the worst stereotypes so if you decide to go that route be prepared to have to prove many people wrong

Haha, yeah. Thanks for the answers. Mage are really fun to play with the hihg crits and so on. I'm maybe afraid it is going to be to easy.

Mages are really hard to fail at but they do take skill to play properly. Sure you can just face mash and rack up HKs but if you want to be really good you have to know how to play it, just like any other class. Although I am biased towards the awesomeness of mages xD

If this is your first 85, mage. You'll hate yourself a lot less in all aspects of the game.

Both are op. Hunters and rogues dominate PvP in lower levels and are semi op at max. Mages are a little difficult at the lower levels unless you play everything JUST right but are still incredibly op in the end.

No this would be my alt, my first level 85 was a DK. And that bothers me even more ^^

My main is a hunter, but the skill cap thing sucks... Whenever I switch to some other class, it feels like a different world.
I hope it gets beter in Pandaria, mainly due to no min range and possibly the consolidation of some abilities.

Also, I'm VERY curious how mages are gonna deal with hunters in MoP. Currently, all mages go meele vs a hunter, im MoP they will eat chimeras in their face, even from meele range. Additionally, hunters can self heal in MoP for a pretty significant amount.

high skillcap sounds like a good reason to suck. I guess you meant "low skillcap".

No, he meant high skill cap. You need to be a lot better to reach the hunter skillcap than lets say to reach the frost DK skillcap.
And yes, this also means that you can easily suck at being a hunter.

He said "even then a lot of them still suck".

If he meant high skillcap, then he should have used "that's why a lot of them still suck." Obv, he was confused about "high" and "low".

even then a lot of them still suck

Translation: Even when a hunter player reaches the hunter skill cap, he still can suck, because at skillcap level a hunter is still inferior to other classes.

    That's how I understand it :-D
