Microwaving Hot Dogs

Okay MMO-Champ Community...

I need some opinions.

I have no problem with using a microwave to prepare my hotdogs, but my boyfriend seems to think that using anything but a toaster or grill (Or boiling in the case of dirty water dogs in NYC) is just disgusting and gross.

What are your opinions on microwaved frankfurters?

I dont like them really at all, but i agree with him that microwaving them is utterly gross. I can only eat them cooked over an open flame like camping.

It might be a US thing but I have never heard of Toasting hotdogs.

OT: Even though I don't eat hotdogs all to often when I do, I boil them, I don't see anything wrong with microwaving them though, even though it is a bit of a waste when it takes the same time to cook them in a better way, microwaves should only really be use to prepare food in a hurry.

They are hotdogs, its not like your preparing a great feast

im sorry but ive never heard of cooking hotdogs in a toaster before

for me its a pot of water ot the microwave

as for frankfurters the micro or the grilll is the nbest way

Microwaving hot dogs is awesome. Especially the cheap dollar dogs that kind of bloat and rip apart. Mmm.

Personally I don't really mind aslong as it tastes fine.

Microwave/boil for soft hotdog
Grill/Pan fry for crispy

I microwave everything hotdogs 30-50seconds and they are done

It's not like you're microwaving a Porterhouse or a Filet. Hot Dogs are about as mediocre a meat as it gets (second only to scrapple...blech) so you shouldn't really need to feel obligated to prepare them using much more than a microwave.

That said, are they more delicious cooked over an open flame? No doubt about it. Hell, even boiling them would be a better option...but, if you're feeling lazy or you're on the move, nothing beats a quick 60 sec nuke. =P

Microwaved hotdogs are awesome, nothing wrong with that.

Wrap them in a paper towel and dampen it with water. Put in microwave for ~25 seconds. Enjoy.

or cut them in half and put it on a skillet.

we don't use a toaster, we use a toaster oven. that should clear up some of the confusion about 'toasting' them.

I strongly prefer my 'dogs boiled or pan fried on grease. I've tried the microwaving and it's just not the same for me. But then again, I have friends who swear to it being just as good or better. I guess it's a matter of taste buds? Some people like things one way, some like it another. Respect your boyfriends oppinion and request he respects yours and then cater to eachother, even in such a simple matter.

I mean, if he asks you to make him some, do it the way he likes it. But then expect him to do the same for you aswell, and if he don't, you have the leverage of the arguement. Bribing with kindness = Love xD

But on topic, I prefer to grill them. If that's not possible, then boil. If I'm in a hurry, I'll microwave them

Nuke the dog for ~ 30 seconds, grab a slice of bread, cheese and condiments of your choice, put it all together and nuke for another 15 seconds....ends up being a not bad cheese dog.

I prefer BBQing them, but it's tough to get the cheese to melt on the hot dog and not the grill (not like burgers!)

Why bother you don't even need to cook hotdogs to eat them. They are edible right out of the pack, that is thawed you know. I personally don't care as long as they taste good.

Sollution: BBQ the Hotdog, Microwave the bread and cheese, then combine :O
